May 27-31, 2025 @ Friends University

An Exciting Week of Music Making at Friends University!
Dear Lions Band Camp Students,
Welcome to Friends University! Whether this is your first time attending or you’re a returning camper, I’m thrilled to have you joining us for what promises to be an exciting and rewarding musical experience. My name is Dr. Shawn Knopp, and I’ll be serving as your primary conductor and camp director while you are at Friends U.
Throughout camp, we’ll focus on more than just great music-making. You’ll build meaningful friendships, strengthen your musicianship, and learn how to work as part of a team committed to excellence, growth, and pride. Expect to be challenged—but also encouraged, supported, and inspired.
As you prepare for our time together, please spend a few moments reviewing the information below which includes our camp schedule and audition information for symphonic band chair placements and the camp's jazz ensemble.
Please come ready to learn, lead, and contribute to something bigger than yourself. Bring your instrument, an open mind, a positive attitude, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. Together, we’ll create something truly special. I can’t wait to get started and hear the incredible music we’ll make together. Let’s make this a week to remember!
With excitement and appreciation,
Dr. Shawn Knopp
Friends University
