Be The Change
Whatever changes you would like to see has to begin with you!
- Let every moment be an example of what you teach and counsel.
- Let your every action be a reflection of your belief.
- Let you every word be a reflection of your own thoughts.
- The best leaders the world has ever known are the reformers who are accountable and responsible for their own change.
- The commitment for change has no days off, does not allow for excuses, and does not allow for pardons.
- It's a true commitment - a commitment to lead with heart to add value to the world.
Changing our face can change nothing. But facing our change can change everything.
- Each one of us can leave a stamp on this world by making our lives meaningful in a thousand ways and making the lives of others better than they ever though possible.
- If you want to see change, you must first start within. It's that simple and it's that profound.

Think of the opportunities we have each day to "be the change" in the lives of our students. Make each day count and commit yourself to being the change that you want to see. Impact our students by being the best possible role model and example you can be and show what love and compassion truly look like.
The Benefits of Small Group Instruction
It was a great week of learning at Tharptown Elementary School last week. I had the opportunity to go into many classrooms and watch small group instruction taking place. This is such a powerful practice! The interaction between the teacher and student is so important to student learning and has a direct impact on student success!
In an article I recently read, it describes the benefits of small group instruction and how it impacts student learning:
Benefits of small-group instruction
- Individualized learning: Small-group instruction allows teachers to evaluate students’ learning strengths and tailor lessons to them. For instance, teachers may break down concepts not easily understood or breeze though lessons that students firmly grasp.
- Confidence: Some students struggle to participate in front of the entire class. The one-on-one attention they receive from small-group instruction activities can boost the confidence of students who may otherwise have a hard time joining the conversation.
- Opportunity for feedback: Small-group instruction is ideal for providing frequent and personalized feedback. There is more time for students to ask questions, and it promotes feedback that goes far beyond a simple letter grade.
- Collaboration: Small-group instruction activities encourage teamwork, inclusivity and collaboration. Students no longer blend into the background of a large classroom—small-group instruction means everyone participates and is working toward the same goal.

Fall Fundraiser Information
This year we have been asked to following some fundraising procedures for turning in the money. Please see the following:
1. Verify the money turned in by each student and write each student a receipt for the total amount he/she turned in. The receipt should be marked as GF for general fund. This receipt should be given to the student to take home.
2. A large white envelope will be placed in your mailbox. Write the name of each student who turns in orders on the envelope, as well as the total amount sold per student. Also place the white copy and yellow copy of the students' order form(s) in the envelope, along with the money. The pink copy of the order form should be given back to the student.
3. When all students who have turned in orders/money are listed on the white envelope and all money is turned in, please total up the money on the envelope and verify that the total money and amount on the envelope equal. Complete a deposit form to turn in to Mrs. Tverberg. On the deposit form, please mark it as GF also.
4. Send the white envelope and deposit slips to Mrs. Tverberg by 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Thank you for all of your help in making this fundraiser a success!
Who says reading can't be fun?
I love what our teachers are doing in their classrooms to provide children with the opportunity to read for pleasure. When observing in classrooms last week, I loved seeing the different reading areas provided to students and the autonomy they were given to make their own choices in reading materials. I saw true excitement as they engaged in reading and in their discussions with each other.
Keep up the great work!
Snack Time
- All teachers should come with their students to purchase snacks and supervise the students during their snack time.
- Please check and make sure all trash and food items are picked up at the end of your snack time.
