News for August 29, 2024
Well that was fun! At this morning's staff meeting we agreed that we are exhausted and happy. It is a ton of work to prep a school in 3 days. All that energy is worth it the minute we see you and your families. If you were unable to attend last night's Meet the Teacher event, don't worry. We will be just as happy to greet students next week. There will be staff available to make sure everyone finds their classroom.
Arrival and dismissal
For those that ride buses, please be patient as drivers get to know their routes and students know their stops. It is hard to miss all the construction in our neighborhood. It should be better by next week, but it won't be completed.
If you drop your child off in the morning, staff will be outside the front doors. Drop off and pick up can be stressful for everyone. When we work together, it eases the stress. Pulling your car forward as staff directs, keeps traffic moving. We understand that it's easiest to stop right at the front doors, but this causes a backup behind cars. When cars pull forward, it allows multiple cars to unload at once and keeps traffic moving.
Same goes for dismissal. Students will again wait in the cafeteria and be told to come outside when their vehicle arrives. Our staff get to know cars quickly and this process gets smoother as we all work together. Please stay in your car rather than walking up to the cafeteria.
Cell phones at school
The notifications on phones and watches are distracting for adults. They are even harder for children to ignore. Our priority is to maintain a safe learning environment at school. Students may turn their phone into their teacher to keep in a safe spot. Students may not keep their phones in their pockets or with them.
As a mom, I understand that texting kids is the fastest way to get in touch with them. The problem is the other texting, or social media use and general distractions that inevitably happen with phones. Call the main office and we will help you get a message to your child during the school day. This aligns with expectations at the middle and high school.
Changes in dismissal plans may not be communicated in a text to a child. For safety purposes, you must contact the main office or your child's teacher for end of day plans.

Girls on the Run registration is open!
This after-school program is open to all 3rd-5th graders who identify as girls or gender non-conforming. The program is designed to teach girls about caring for themselves, their friendships, and their communities. Physical activity is woven into the program to teach healthy habits and life skills such as setting goals and managing emotions. The program will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30pm starting Tuesday, September 10th until Tuesday, November 12th with our Final 5K Celebration on Sunday, November 10th. At GOTR we believe every girl can change the world by knowing she is the leader of her life. Girls on the Run is so much fun! Register online at https://www.gotrmn.org/3rd-5th-grade-program-details or on paper using attached form.
Do you want to inspire Edgerton girls to be joyful, confident, and healthy? Consider volunteering as a coach with Girls on the Run at Edgerton this fall!
Girls on the Run is a program that teaches 3rd-5th graders about taking care of themselves, their friendships, and their community through research-based curriculum and physical exercise. Learn more here: https://www.gotrmn.org/programs
At Edgerton, GOTR is in high demand by students and families. In order to host a team again this fall, we need at least 3 more coaches. Coaches do NOT need to be “runners.” We are seeking responsible, enthusiastic adults (of all genders!) with a commitment to preparing girls to reach their full potentials.
Please let me know if you're interested or have questions. If you're up to it, fill out the coach application form below by August 15th!
Also, please share with friends, family, or students' families who might be interested in coaching!!
Information about New Bus Routing System
Roseville Area Schools has implemented a new transportation routing system to improve the efficiency of our bus schedules for picking up and dropping off students. While this system is designed to enhance our transportation services, we ask for your patience as we address and resolve any initial issues.
If you need to request a change to a bus stop or if you no longer require transportation services, please email us at transportation@isd623.org or call us at 651-635-1638. Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Student Name
- Student ID
- Reason for the request (for example, relocation, change in transportation needs)
Please note that we are processing requests as quickly as possible; however, any changes to existing bus stops will not take effect until after the first week of school.
You will receive updates and information about any changes via email, so please ensure that your contact details are current. This includes verifying that your most recent telephone number and email address are on file to ensure you receive all necessary communications promptly.
The safety of our students is our highest priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition.
Important Changes to School Meal Procedures for Roseville Area Schools Students
Roseville Area Schools will continue to offer free meals for all students during the school day, including healthy breakfasts, lunches, and after-school "super" snacks. To ensure our meal programs remain effective and equitable, we are implementing some changes to our procedures, specifically regarding second meals and additional lunch servings.
Changes to Meal Procedures
Elementary Schools:
- Elementary students will no longer be able to purchase additional items such as entrées or sides. However, milk may still be purchased separately.
- We encourage students to make the most of our meal offerings by eating breakfast, utilizing the share cart, and enjoying the "all-you-care-to-eat" fresh fruit and vegetable options available with their lunch serving.
Secondary Schools:
- Secondary students may purchase additional entrées, sides, or milk if they have money in their meal account.
- To purchase additional items, students must check in at the designated cashier, receive a food tray, return to the serving line for the additional items, and check out at the designated register.
- Students with negative meal balances will not be permitted to purchase additional items.
We encourage all students to take advantage of the free breakfast and lunch offerings, which include unlimited fruits and vegetables and access to the share cart. Secondary students also have the opportunity to enjoy free super snacks at the end of each school day.
Thank you for your understanding as we make these adjustments to better serve our students.
