From the Desk Of the Superintendent (2nd Week)
Here is a note from Dr. Jeff Feucht, D117 Superintendent
This article focuses on exceptional District 117 educators who truly embody our D117 Portrait of a Graduate. It features features six staff members who all received Lake County Educator of the Year nominations! I was honored to sit down and interview each of them and learned how, through their unique approaches and dedication, they serve as shining examples of the competencies we aim to instill in all of our students by the time they graduate!

Nominations for the Brad Hubbard Award (2nd Week)
Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to enhance the ACHS culture, support growth, and cultivate a comprehensive and exemplary learning experience in our high school community?
If so, please nominate that teacher, counselor, coach, student, parent, volunteer, administrator, business, or organization for the Dr. Bradford Hubbard Award. The Award was established by the Sequoit Pride parent booster club in 2017 to honor Dr. Hubbard's outstanding commitment, dedication, and support of the Sequoit community. Please consider nominating any person or organization that has gone above and beyond to enhance the ACHS culture, support growth, and cultivate a comprehensive and exemplary learning experience in our high school community. This award is permanently displayed at the Sequoit Pride Store in the Commons.
HOW DO I NOMINATE SOMEONE?
Email your nominees for consideration to sequoit.boosters@chsd117.org by April 25th. Please include in your nomination, the nominee's name and a few sentences describing why you believe they should receive this recognition.
WHO IS DR. HUBBARD?
During his tenure as principal, Dr. Hubbard earned the respect and admiration of students, staff, parents, and the Antioch community. He supported our Sequoits by attending an unbelievable number of student events, home and away. He was frequently seen in the hallways throughout the day, offering students a smile, a congratulatory remark, compassion, and support. When challenges arose, Dr. Hubbard's leadership style made it easy for all to know how to react. He was caring yet firm. He was an ideal role model for the next generation. He encouraged Sequoits to "make it matter" and, every day, he spread that message by living it.

Mock College Admissions Workshop (NEW)
Mock Admissions Workshop
When: Tuesday, May 6th, 6:30 pm
Where: Lakes Community High School Auditorium
Who: 9th, 10th, and 11th graders and Families
Have you ever wondered how colleges decide who to admit? Would you like to experience reviewing an application for admission? Please join us for an evening with college representatives as they guide you through an application review. This is an excellent opportunity to walk step by step through all the stages of reviewing an application. How are transcripts looked at? How do letters of recommendation help? Do admission offers vary based on institutional needs? For the evening, you will be working for a fictional university and reviewing the applications of 3-4 prospective students. By the end of the evening, your job is to make recommendations on who to admit, waitlist, and deny. This will help you understand how colleges and universities look at students and how decisions are made.
