SHS Academic Fair and 8th Grade Transition Day
** 8th Grade Parents: Please do not schedule appointments for this day as it is extremely difficult to get your child out of the event at the high school. 8th graders will be gone from 9:00-2:00 this day**
We're one semester away from your students' transitioning into high school! We are so excited for the Class of 2026 to arrive. There are a couple of events on January 13, 2022, that we wanted to notify you about.
First, our Academic Fair is on Thursday, 1/13 from 5:30-7:00pm at Sycamore High School. The event starts in our Main Gym with an information session. Then, you and your students will be free to walk around our Commons area to learn about all of the various academic programs that we're proud to offer. We hope this is a chance to speak with teachers and supervisors and get a better feel for what your students can expect next year and beyond.
Second, our annual "8th Grade Transition to HS Day" is during the school day on Thursday, 1/13. This won't impact any schedules outside of school hours. Rather, 8th graders will be bused from the SJH to the HS for much of the day, and then return in time for the end of the day at SJH.
We hope you and your students find Thursday, January 13th to be useful and informative! These events are coordinated in order to give you and your students as much information as possible prior to making your decision about high school. If you have any questions, please contact SHS Dean of Students Ashwin Corattiyil at CorattiyilA@SycamoreSchools.org.
From,
SHS Administration

The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families. Taking a college course from a public college or university through College Credit Plus is free to the family as Sycamore covers the cost of tuition and books. Students are required to notify Sycamore High School if they plan to participate in College Credit Plus. The process begins with the student completing a mandatory Intent to Participate form

PTO News
Junior High Parents:
The PTO board has discussed the idea of holding an “a-thon” event to coincide with the Greene School’s walk a- thon on April 14th. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a walk-a-thon it could be any “a-thon” your imagination comes up with. We know we have many talented people out there with ideas because of all of the great “a-thon” events at the K-6 buildings. Right now, we are in the planning stages and are asking our families if anyone out there would like to chair or co-chair this event. If you are interested in learning more about this new event or have ideas on “a-thon” event you think may be good for 7th and 8th graders please reach out to Kathy Mercurio at jhptowaysmeans@sycamoreschools.org or kathymercurio@fuse.net
8th Grade Day
It’s hard to believe our 8th graders will soon be moving on to High School!!!
8th Grade Day...A fun "out of school" day for all 8th graders, co-sponsored by PTO and JH Administration typically held at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. Day includes pool access, outdoor activities, DJ and lunch. Volunteers are broken up into two shifts (morning and afternoon) mostly to chaperone and help out with snacks and parting gifts. If you are interested in helping out day-of or co-chair planning for this Sycamore Jr. High tradition please contact jhptoprograms@sycamoreschools.org
SJH: IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Valuables at School
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We know that many of our students have valuable items. We encourage you to have your child LEAVE VALUABLE ITEMS AT HOME. Items like small earbuds are particularly difficult to find. Headphone/earbuds are available for students in the office.
The school can not be responsible for the loss or theft of valuable items a child chooses to bring to school.
Thank you.
