IMPORTANT LINKS
THE MAYNARD MUSIC ASSOCIATION
The mission of the Maynard Music Association (MMA) is to promote, support, and advocate for exceptional music education for all Maynard High School and Fowler Middle School students.
GREEN COMMITTEE WASTE AUDIT
Helping the Environment -- and the Budget!
The Maynard High School Green Committee will be collaborating with the community organization Green Maynard on December 6th and 7th to conduct a Waste Audit. During the Waste Audit, students will be asked to separate their lunch waste into trash, recycling, and compost. The Green teams will then weigh the different waste types to see if composting would be cost effective for our school. Not only will this raise student awareness about food waste and the power of recycling and composting, but it could also prevent us from literally throwing money in the trash!
WAVM
GENERAL INFORMATION
WAVM is our student-run radio and television station. Student radio shows are up and running for 2023-2024 -- tune in on 91.7 FM, or at wavm.org -- every school day from 2 PM - 9 PM.
Students in grades 6-12 who want to get involved are encouraged to stop by the station or come to a staff meeting, meet Mr. Valenti, Mrs. Newey, and the student CEO's, and sign up for a job!
2023 TELETHON -- TUNE IN STARTING AT 8:00 PM ON DECEMBER 8TH!
The weekend of December 8-10 is Telethon Weekend. Watch our amazing team of hosts, our entertaining acts, and our incredible auction items, all at telethon.wavm.org. Families and community members who want to support the Beacon Santa Telethon are encouraged to donate to the Telethon at this link. We need volunteers, auction items, sponsers, and more! Everyone in Maynard and the surrounding towns is welcome to help us support local families in need.

Dr. Cairns' Anatomy and Physiology classes have received a grant from the Maynard Education Foundation to make it more affordable for students to attend the Body Worlds exhibition in Boston. During the past 24 years the creators of Body Worlds have brought medical education to audiences around the world, and our students will be able to get that experience first hand on December 19th. Invitations were also given to AP Biology students and the members of the Science Club. Forty-five students are registered to go! Thanks so much to the MEF for making this possible.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES
As we head towards the end of the year and "holiday season," stress increases for many of us. We know our teens are stressed and we know the importance of self-care for them. But parents and caregivers, are you caring for yourselves? It's important that you take the time to care for yourself, both to ensure you're not giving from an empty cup, but also to model self-care for our teens. And we don't need to wait until things get even more hectic than they are to start. Here are some tips to think about now: https://parentandteen.com/parents-who-care-for-themselves-prepare-teens-to-thrive/
