Normandy Park School
Week of March 3rd
March 3rd is an E Day.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Last week was a blast! We kicked things off with a fantastic Fun Fair on Sunday – a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers who made it possible! We also loved welcoming FMS students and NPS alumni back to read to our classes, it was wonderful to see familiar faces. Finally, our 4th and 5th graders enjoyed a special presentation from NJ Courts. What a fun and engaging week!
On Thursday, NPS will be hosting the STEAM Fair (additional information below).
Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions at christopher.miller@msdk12.net. Have a great week!

Women's History Month
March is Women's History Month.
Women's History Month was created to highlight the achievements and contributions made by women throughout the history of the United States.
Today, we continue to celebrate Women's History Month, but also emphasize studying the accomplishments of female Americans year round. Every morning, we will open the announcements by learning about an influential woman in our nation's history!
NJ Court Presentation for 4th and 5th Graders
Thank you the NJ Courts for coming to NPS. They presented a program to students, highlighting various opportunities and careers within the legal system! Several employees from the Morris/Sussex Vicinage shared their personal experiences and engaged with the students. Presenters incorporated opportunities to participate throughout the program to maintain student engagement. To conclude the program, each student and faculty member received a gift of the organization's popular gavel pencils!
STEAM Fair
The Normandy Park School is excited to host its annual S.T.E.A.M. Fair which will be held Thursday, March 6th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The acronym S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Students are learning, exploring and expressing interest in many areas, and this is an additional opportunity to showcase their work.
During the fair parents and students will have the opportunity to explore the different aspects of S.T.E.A.M. throughout the building. It will be an amazing opportunity for students to display their talents and interests through multiple facets.
Your child also has the opportunity to complete an at home project. This is voluntary. Additional information was sent home by Mr. Russell.
We hope you will join us in celebrating our students’ hard work.
NPS Yearbook
The yearbook will be available to all grades for purchase this year. As in the past, the HSA will purchase each 5th grader their own yearbook. A flyer to purchase will go out soon. All books must be purchased by May 15th.
In the next few weeks, we will be asking for photos from families to share. Any school or school-related event would be great! For 5th grade families, we will also be collecting baby pictures!

ACCESS Testing
ACCESS testing refers to the ACCESS for ELLs (English Language Learners) assessment. It's a large-scale English language proficiency test given to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who have been identified as English Language Learners.
For all students taking ACCESS this week, please make sure to arrive on time. If you are going to be late or absent, please notify the nurse. Thank you!
Dear NPS Families,
We hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather! It’s great to see the snow melting, and we can all look forward to the arrival of spring soon.
As we wrap up February and head into March, here are a few highlights:
February Recap: Our students had a fantastic time learning about Caring during our Community Meeting. We had a wonderful time celebrating the 100the day. The month was filled with fun activities, and we’re proud of the hard work and enthusiasm shown by everyone. The Fun Fair was so much fun - Thank you HSA.
March is our month of Citizenship!
Citizenship means being a member of a community, like your school or town, where you have certain rights and responsibilities, such as following rules, respecting others, and actively participating to make it a better place. It’s about understanding how to be a good member of society by contributing positively and making informed decisions.
Digital citizenship is the responsible use of technology to participate in online and offline communities. It involves being respectful, ethical, and safe when using the internet.
Please see the attached graphic about the principles of digital citizenship, and we encourage you to share this with your children. Here at NP, we are passionate about teaching our students to be kids of character and model citizens. Have a question or concern you want to see featured in the Counselor Corner?
We encourage you to keep an eye on your child’s schoolwork and continue supporting their learning at home.
Thank you for all that you do to help make this school year a success!
Wishing you all an amazing rest of the month!
Your School Counselor,
Sincerely,
Gloria Hunt
