What's Happening in Our School!
A Word From Mr. Quillen
PES Family,
As we move into the second semester, things are really starting to pick up for both students and staff. Between sports, extracurricular competitions, ongoing projects, and standardized testing, there’s no shortage of things to juggle. Weather-related delays and cancellations can add even more stress to an already busy time. It’s completely normal for students to feel overwhelmed at this point in the year.
To help manage the pressure, it's important for students to focus on maintaining good sleep habits and eating healthy meals. These simple steps can make a big difference in helping them stay energized and perform their best each day.
This semester is packed with key events, including the Science Fair, Read-a-Thon, and several important assessments like IREAD3 (3rd grade), IREAD2 (2nd grade), and ILEARN (grades 3-6).
We encourage you to stay in close contact with your child's teacher(s) to keep up-to-date on upcoming events, lessons, and assessments—and to get tips on how you can support your child at home during this busy time.

Teacher of the Month
Kim Schroder
Kim Schroder has been teaching for 30 years. She has been at Pioneer for 20 years! She has taught P.E., 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 6th grade, and is currently our School Counselor. Mrs. Schroder had taught at Columbia Elementary in Rochester before becoming a Pioneer Panther.
Mrs. Schroder has enjoyed being able to bring her therapy dog, Parka, to school every day! She loves the Pioneer community because all 3 of her boys grew up here. She says, "I love the small, tight-knit, friendly community!" She states, "The goals for my students are to be kind to one another and to respect themselves and others!" Her favorite memory, and one that always makes her laugh, is when one of her students asked why it was still snowing after Christmas break because Christmas was over.
Linnea Lebo
Linnea Lebo has been teaching Kindergarten at Pioneer for 19 years! This is the only school she has ever taught at. A real Panther for life!
Mrs. Lebo states, "I am proud to be a Pioneer Panther, and I was excited to have the opportunity to come back and teach at Pioneer with Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Gotshall. They were the ones that inspired me to become a teacher when I was a student here." She is proud that she grew up in this small town community and enjoys teaching! Mrs. Lebo feels one of the most important things that Kindergartners learn is life skills that they will use forever. She says, "I hope I can give them the building blocks and a good foundation that they can take with them throughout their lives." There is never a dull moment in Kindergarten and Mrs. Lebo cannot imagine teaching it without Mrs. Manges and Mrs. Farrer. They have made so many great memories together.

Colder Weather Is Here!
As it gets colder outside, there will be days that students MUST have sleeves or a coat to go outside. It is recommended to keep an extra sweatshirt or coat at school just in case!
The Handbook States:
If the temperatures at the time of recess are below 50 degrees (including wind chill) the students will need to wear a coat outside for recess. If the temperatures at the time of recess are between 50 and 60 degrees (including wind chill) the students will need to wear a sweatshirt or coat to go outside. If the temperatures at the time of recess are above 60 degrees (including wind chill) then the students may choose whether or not to wear a coat or sweatshirt outside for recess.
