Updates in this communication include:
- Phase 3 Has Begun!
- CAASPP Testing Update
- Global Learners in EUSD
- Reminders: Verification of Residency and Intent to Return
Dear EUSD Families,
Thank you for your tremendous support as we transitioned this week into Phase 3. It was an incredible feeling on campus as students reunited with their friends from the other cohort. I wanted to share some of the observations I made this week with all of you!
Sites were so well prepared! They had all of the necessary materials and procedures in place to adjust to the larger numbers in classrooms.
Students have continued to be flexible and adaptable as they shifted to their third schedule of the year.
Although traffic around schools was heavier with the full capacity of students returning, families were patient and understanding and stuck to the site schedules.
Teachers were intentional about helping to support students with building relationships with one another and with providing time to foster the social emotional connections in the larger setting.
The buzz and joy of learning continues to be elevated in classrooms as we start this last quarter.
No one missed being on Zoom!
Being on campuses daily this week, I was so appreciative of our students, families and staff for making this final transition of the school year a successful one!
This week our Board of Trustees heard a district update on Phase 3 and plans for 2021/2022 school year. We are thrilled to be planning for a much more typical school year with our regular schedule! The slides to the presentation are available at this link.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
CAASPP Testing Update
The State of California has been approved to use local measures instead of the CAASPP (CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) testing for student assessment this year. We will share more information in the coming weeks, however EUSD will be using iReady math and reading as the end of year assessments along with Literably for the final reading assessments.
Global Learners in EUSD
One of the exciting learning experiences that are happening recently is our Read Across America (Really!) program. So far, eighteen EUSD classroom teachers have connected LIVE with eighteen same grade level teachers in the Washington D.C. School District and have read and shared together. Students have learned how much we have in common. Additionally, we have had seventeen EUSD classroom teachers and seventeen classroom teachers from schools in Mexico connect and share their language and culture with each other. Now we are looking for how these Global Learners can energize our DLI classrooms. Thanks to Chelsa Charles for helping us pioneer this amazing learning opportunity.
Reminders: Verification of Residency and Intent to Return
One of the most important pieces of information for the district to have when planning for the upcoming school year is the number of children that will be enrolled in our schools. It is important for the district to have the predicted enrollment number as accurate as possible in order to determine the appropriate staffing levels for each school. To assist in this process, we ask families each year to confirm with the district if their child(ren) will be returning for the following school year.
If you have not completed your child’s Verification of Residency and Intent to Return, please contact your school services secretary for information and to receive your child’s unique “snapcode” to access the form in our new PowerSchool Student Information System.
As part of the Intent to Return process, parents/guardians are required to verify their residency by submitting two items from the list below:
Grant Deed or property tax payment receipts
Rental/lease agreement signed by all parties with parent/guardian and children’s names, AND property owner or agent’s name and contact telephone number (subject to physical verification)
Home utility (SDG&E, water, sewer or trash) bill from within last 30 days
Cable TV or “land line” telephone bill from within last 30 days
Payroll check stub with name and address within the last 30 days
Bank statement with name and address within the last 30 days
Voter Registration Card
Correspondence from a government agency within the last 30 days
A Declaration of Residency Affidavit if you are not able to provide any of the documents listed above but believe that you reside in the District. Please contact your school front office for assistance.
