Principal's Message
Welcome back, families and students!
We hope you had a restful and joyful winter break, filled with special moments and fun memories. As we step into the new year, we're excited to continue our journey of learning, growth, and achievement together. We look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead and are thrilled to have everyone back for another wonderful semester! Let's make 2025 a year to remember.
With gratitude and best wishes,
Principal Goodwine
MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS ARE HERE ALL WEEK!
- ✨ ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES ✨ : The month of January we are asking that your students are at school EVERY DAY! Classes that get 7 days of 95% attendance or better will be celebrated with a pop-it bracelet while those students who have had perfect attendance for the whole month will receive $5 Greenmont Bucks. Our students thrive when they have consistent school routines. Research suggests that missing anywhere from 1-2 days each month can cause students to get off-track academically and lead to ineffective social habits.
- 📚 ACADEMIC GOALS 📚 : CONVERSATIONS ABOUT LEARNING GOALS! Remember to have conversations with your students about what they are working on in class. This month our students in grades K-5 will be taking their mid-year assessments to identify growth, challenges, and needs. Please encourage them to do their very best!
- 🛝 PLAYGROUND EXPECTATIONS 🛝 : If the weather feels like or is below 20° we will not be taking the students outside. Those frigid temps could lead to health concerns if students are out for extended times. Instead, we will be having indoor recess which includes drawing, socializing, mild physical movement (walking), and games. Please encourage your students to respect the space and expectations established during these times.
One of our major goals this year is to improve our attendance and reduce the amount of students who are chronically absent. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% of the school year for any reason. Although sometimes we may excuse an absence due illness or a family matter, those days still count towards missed instructional time and can therefore be calculated toward Chronic Absenteeism. Please continue to make sure your student is at school EVERY DAY!
Thank you,
Principal Goodwine
