Veterans Day Breakfast and Assembly
McDonald Elementary School hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day breakfast and assembly to honor our nation's veterans. The event kicked off with a flag presentation by Cub Scout Pack 200, followed by a stirring performance of the National Anthem by fifth grader Grace Inverso on trumpet as veterans stood in salute.
The assembly featured special guest speaker, Sergeant Joy Hadlich, a former McDonald student and Marine Corps veteran, who shared his experiences in the military. The Klinger Band also performed a song to celebrate the occasion.
Students joined in with a moving rendition of God Bless the USA, incorporating sign language to express their respect and gratitude. The morning concluded with a poignant slideshow showcasing local veterans and their service.
It was a memorable event that brought our school community together to honor those who have served our country.

From the Library
Reading Olympics
Fourth and Fifth Grade classes learned about Reading Olympics this week during their Library classes.
If your child is considering joining Reading Olympics, please read and review the student expectations that are explained on the Permission Slip. Students who join Reading Olympics should be self motivated readers.
Permission slips were sent home in the Wednesday Express and they are due by November 25.
A link to the permission slip is provided.
Library Book Reminders
The list of overdue library books is growing. Overdue notices are sent home in the Wednesday Express. If your child is missing a library book or if your child received an overdue book notice, please help them look for the book at home and return it to school.
If a library book is lost, please send a note or email to Mrs. McNulty. Families are not required to pay for lost books, but it is helpful if you are able to pay for a replacement copy of the book. If you pay for a lost book and the book is found, you will receive your money back.
Book Buddy Winners
This year we will continue recognizing Book Buddies from each grade level, at the end of each month with a random drawing.
Most students are Book Buddies because they borrow and return their library books on time, and they take good care of their library books.
A Book Buddy Winner is a student who is randomly selected at the end of the month and does not have any overdue library books. Book Buddy Winners receive a small prize.
