November
Happy November!
Parents-
It's hard to believe we are already in November!
We have loved meeting with and learning alongside our Roo's this fall. WISD really does have some of the best students!
We get asked often from parents about how they can best support their high school students. Check out this article on 10 Ways to Help Your Teen Succeed in High School!
We are grateful for YOU and your continued partnership with us.
As always, please reach out with any questions. We love helping our Roos!

Roo Expo
Mark your calendars because WHS will be hosting our annual Roo Expo event on December 3rd. It will be held at Weatherford High School from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM.
Roo Expo is a time for your student to learn all about the different endorsement pathways, electives, clubs, and organizations WHS has to offer. Tables will line the main hallways to visit with these different groups.
Weatherford ISD wants to ensure your student is prepared for life after high school. Our goal is to have each student deemed "College and Career Ready" per Texas Education Agency Guidelines. At this point the student will need to select one of the following ways to pursue the distinction. The student only has to meet ONE type of readiness indicator in either college, career or military. Senior releases are also attached to having a CCMR indicator met.
Dual Credit Information
Are you interested in taking Dual Credit courses next year? If so, it is time to start planning! Dual credit is concurrent or dual enrollment in both a college and high school. By taking one class, a student is SIMULTANEUOUSLY earning high school and college credit. Check with your counselor to see which courses are available and make a plan! Check out the college and career website for more information: https://sites.google.com/weatherfordisd.com/whsccr/dual-credit
Students who are interested in taking Dual Credit, must have a passing TSIA2, SAT, or ACT score. Here is the link to sign up for the TSIA2: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScR5EV9psnwZaE4SgBoWAMTrYHsEy7qNIUghos_0Dds_a85hQ/viewform

All Seniors must complete the FAFSA or opt-out form. This is a Texas graduation requirement. Please use the links below to get started. If you have completed FAFSA, please send me your documentation through email or drop it off at my office.
If you are NOT attending college after high school because you are entering the workforce or military, you can pick up an OPT-OUT form that will fulfill this graduation requirement. This form can be printed out here https://tea.texas.gov/academics/college-career-and-military-prep/opt-outrevised10.2021finalenglish.pdf or picked up at the counselor’s office.

Senior Decision Video
Hey Seniors!
Many of you are already making your plans for after high school. We want to celebrate these momentous decisions with you! WHS is creating a "look where I'm going" display and video. We need your help!
The College Admissions Network
SCOIR is a place to manage and connect on all things college search, fit, and admissions!
To Request Your Transcript
SCOIR is what you will use when you need a transcript sent to the college/s of your choice. You can also find great resources in SCOIR to use as a tool for college search exploration.
How to Send a transcript request in SCOIR?
When you move a school to “Applied” within Scoir, your counselor receives an e-mail to let us know to send your transcript. Most schools are a part of the Scoir network, and all your counselor has to do is click the “send” button. While our part is quick, it can take up to 6 weeks for your College or University to accept and process your transcript. Their part takes a bit longer since they are processing so many during this application time.

Citizenship
Campuses across WISD concentrate on a focus word each month and tie it to activities and lessons presented to our students. These words are focused on what it truly means to "be a Roo." Our character trait for the month of November is CITIZENSHIP. This means being the kind of person who is involved in trying to make their community, nation or world a better place. Good citizens are people who are engaged, in big or small ways, in considering the needs of others in their community and have respect for authority figures. So this month, let’s all remember that Roos choose to be a member of and support our school community.
