A note from Mrs. Satkoski....
Wow, summer went by so fast! We are SO excited to welcome you all back for the 2024 - 2025 school year. I will be sending out a lot of important information this year via this newsletter. Be sure to check it out each Friday. It will be emailed to you.
Class assignments were sent via US Mail on July 25. If you do not receive your child's class assignment by July 29, please reach out to us at 812-542-5502 so you know where to go for open house. Check out our open house visual below as a guide for open house!
In case we haven't met, my name is Marcy Satkoski and I am the principal at Grant Line Elementary. This is my second year as principal at Grant Line Elementary. This is my tenth year in administration in NAFCS. I have been the administrative intern here at Grant Line, the assistant principal at Slate Run, and the assistant principal at S. Ellen Jones. Prior to my administrative experiences, I taught grades PreK, K, 3rd, 5th, 6th grades, and at the college level. This is my 27th year in education overall. I have been married for 27 years, have two college-age kids, and two cats. We love spending time together as a family - traveling, watching and playing sports, and playing games. I love my job and cannot wait to get to know you!
Kim LaMaster is our Administrative Intern. Kim has been in education for 20 years and administration for 5 years. During her time in education, she has been an instructional coach, taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th grades. Over the summer Kim and her husband celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary! They have 2 children and a little puppy named Taze. They enjoy traveling to the lake and beach and spending time together.
First Day of School
Parents are not to walk students in on the first day. This is a huge safety concern as we have over 500 students attending Grant Line. We love our parents and guardians, but please stay in the car and we will get them safely to class!
Open House and Orientation Times
Please bring school supplies with you to Open House/Orientation if possible. It will be crowded. We will have parking available across the street - please be careful when crossing Grant Line Road. We will have a staff member assisting families to cross the street safely.

Student Insurance - Optional
If your student needs insurance, here is the information. This is not required, only optional.
School Treats
Dear parents/guardians:
Food allergies, intolerances and other dietary-related medical conditions are a growing concern for our schools. Children who are affected can suffer a severe or even fatal reaction if they eat or come into contact with food that they are allergic to, and there are other children who can have life altering medical issues if they consume certain foods.
For the safety of these students, we are encouraging parents to celebrate birthdays and other occasions with non-food items such as stickers, pencils, themed erasers, or other trinkets, rather than food. If a special arrangement is made for a classroom party, any food that is sent in to share with students should be pre-packaged and contain an ingredient label AND must be approved beforehand.
Thank you in advance for making the class environment a safe and healthy place for the students. By working together, we can make a difference for our children!
Kind regards,
Sherry Stanfield, RN, BSN
