BFH Falcons' View
June 2 to 7, 2025

Principal's Message,
Dear Falcon students and families,
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! This past week, and more importantly this weekend, saw us celebrating some amazing Bev Facey graduates! The Graduation ceremony on Saturday was fantastic and held testament to our incredible Bev Facey grads. Our Hostess and Host of Ceremonies, did an absolutely fantastic job. Our speakers all spoke eloquently and with style in their responses to our staff and their parents, and in the wonderful valedictorian address. This year also saw us return to featuring some amazing Facey musicians. It was easy to see how brilliant they are as a graduating cohort. I am so proud of this group and the things that they have accomplished.
This continued to be evident as they joined us back at our school for the "Facey Formal," where they celebrated as a group with family and friends on the dance floor, and in congratulating those peers who were voted for in the 2025 Facey Formal Grad Choice Awards. It was an amazing night that was made even better by this impressive Grad class's incredible support for one another. I was incredibly proud and felt privileged to be a part of this year's graduating class's events and celebrations. I would also like to thank our amazing staff who put so much work into making our Grads experience such a special one!
We had another fast paced week last week with many of our students excelling in the classroom or on the athletic field of play! Our Sr. Girls Senior Soccer team did phenomenal, winning their opening playoff game against St. Francis Xavier and moving on to this week's big semi-final match up against Arch Bishop O'Leary. As well our Grads had a great time taking part in a week of Grad Theme days, where they dressed up in everything from Barbecue Dads & Soccer Moms to Country vs. Country Club themed outfits. Our amazing students also took part in Metro Unified Games Jamboree and fared very well against all the other Edmonton area schools within this fantastic inclusive event.
This upcoming week is proving to be another busy one. The week is filled with a multitude of events including our Spring Volleyball Camp for both boys and girls (check out the article below for times), our General Music: Rock & Pop classes will be hosting their Final Concert night on June 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Gym, and not to be undone, our Concert Band will also host their final concert on June 5 at 7:00 p.m. Finally, the start of some of our Part A Final Exams for our Gr. 10 & 11 students will begin on Friday, June 5 in our north gym.
On that note, I hope you all have an excellent Sunday evening and a fantastic week, and, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

BFCHS Artist of the Week - Noopur Patel
Congratulations to Noopur Patel (Art 10) on a creative triptych painting. Students were challenged with showing off their understanding of THREE important colour schemes in one series…. and Noopur did a beautiful job of showing off her understanding of the monochromatic, analogous, and warm-cool colour schemes!! Well done Noopur

Unlocking Opportunities: The Benefits of AP Classes
College Preparedness: AP courses simulate college-level rigor, aiding in the development of vital academic skills and study habits necessary for success in higher education.
Dual Admission Advantage: Some post-secondary institutions consider either AP scores or high school grades for admission, offering students completing AP exams during high school an beneficial entry pathway.
University Credits: Excelling on AP exams can result in earning college credits, potentially reducing the number of courses required in college, thus saving time and money.
Diverse Student Population: AP courses are accessible to students with a strong work ethic.
Demonstrating Potential: AP courses provide opportunities for students to exhibit their capabilities and dedication, regardless of consistent high averages, showcasing readiness for college-level studies to prospective colleges and universities.
University of Alberta's Dual-Admission Advantage
If you're taking AP exams along with your high school courses, the University of Alberta will use the higher grade between your AP score and your high school grade for admission. This ensures you're not at a disadvantage for taking AP exams.
