High School Progress Reports Sent Home Friday, February 3rd
Staff entered progress grades (as of student progress on Friday, January 27th). Grades and progress may have slightly changed since then, so please check HAC as well as their digital platform for current student progress. Please connect with class teachers for questions regarding student grades.
Student progress can be seen on the Acellus or SchoolsPLP platform at anytime and access to personal Acellus weekly target sheets that can be requested. See Buttons below for more information.

Mount Hood Meadows Nordic Center
Free and Open to All Ages.
Kindergarten-2nd grade students should be accompanied by their parents.
We will make groups based on age and skill level.

9:00 Meet at the HROA building
9:15 Meet at the Mid Valley Market
9:30: Meet at Mt. Hood Town Hall
If you want to drive yourself: meet at 10 am at the Mt Hood Meadows Nordic Center

To drive other students you will need to complete the school district volunteer form. Contact meghan.west@hoodriver.k12.or.us
What to wear:
Wear clothes that aren’t made of cotton. Wear long thick socks. Bring gloves and a hat. Wear snow pants and a warm jacket. Bring sunglasses and wear sunscreen. Wear snow boots if you have them. Bring a water bottle and lunch. We have plenty of extra clothing in all sizes, so just email emily.kohner@hoodriver.k12.or.us if you need snow pants, a warm jacket, or gloves.
All ski gear is provided for free

Artist in Residence at HROA
Calling all HROA students!
We invite you to work with an acclaimed artist and art teacher, Allison Bell Fox.
Dates: Wednesdays, February 8th and 15th.
Elementary students: 9am-10am
Middle School students 10am-12pm
High school students: 12pm-2pm
We will be creating a collaborative art piece that will be installed in the building.
Students can also create their own individual painted silk piece.
Middle School Space Camp
This week Space Campers learned about the astronaut’s space suit. Did you know there are 13 layers? And the suit weighs 280 pounds?!

Special Guest: James Andreassen, Product Graphic Designer for Slingshot Sports. Work with a professional backpack designer!
Focus on the design thinking experience, going through
empathizing, brainstorming, getting feedback, prototyping, and iteration.
February 17
Blueprinting and an introduction to circuits. Build an LED flashlight!
Meet Hector Ybarra and Kurtis Kabriel. They are Power Control Systems Craftsman trainees with the Bonneville Power Administration. They will talk about their career pathway and how they use blueprints in their work
February 24
February 24 Use circuits to create light-up greeting cards. Hector and Kurtis from BPA will be back to work with us! Learn about how they became master technicians.
Are you Bilingual?
Hello Bilingual or Multilingual High School Students!
If you speak a language other than English fluently, did you know that you can receive up to 2 high school credits by taking a test and showing your knowledge of your second language?
Please sign up for a meeting with Ms. Amanda to take the test in order to receive credit. You will need to be proctored in person, so plan to be in the building for anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. When you sign up for a meeting with Amanda, put down that you are scheduling to take the "BYU FLATS Test".

2023 STATE TESTING Opting Out INFORMATION
3rd - 8th Graders: April
11th Graders: May
Districts and public charter schools must provide parents with the ODE-developed annual notice at the beginning of each school year. School districts and public charter schools must use the 30-day notice and opt-out form provided by ODE to communicate with all parents about state testing requirements and their right to opt-out for high school students by December 4, 2022 and for students in Grades 3-8 by February 4, 2023.
