UUCSJS Midweek Message
October 28, 2020
Minister's Meditation
This Sunday we begin our month of Healing. Let us begin by asking "What does it mean to be a people of healing?"
This week in the Minister's Meditation, Rev. Dawn shares a reading called "Your Broken Heart" by Rev. Angela Herrera.
Take some time this week to catch your breath and think about what healing you may need.
Rev. Dawn is available for pastoral care appointments Wednesday through Friday 10am - 3pm email minister@uucsjs.org.
This Sunday
Ancestors and a Spiritual Plan B
-Rev. Dawn Fortune
All Saints Day is a day of remembrance when we think about those who have died in the past year. In ancient traditions, this was the time of the year when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest, and people believed that they could communicate with their departed loved ones and say a final farewell to conclude their grieving process. Two days before the US presidential election, we are inspired to seek the wisdom and counsel of our ancestors long departed from this world. What do they have to tell us about survival? Resiliency? What do they have to offer to help us create a spiritual plan for whatever the outcome of Tuesday's election might be? Join us as we reflect and make a plan for healing in uncertain times.
Join us Sunday at 10 am at www.tinyurl.com/uucsjszoom or call in to (929)436-2866 then enter: 2246776604#, 0#, 306591#.
Information on upcoming services can be found HERE.
For those hearing-impaired, pdf copies of Rev. Dawn's sermons are available on our website at the link above. Also, entire services are uploaded to our YouTube channel each Sunday afternoon where Closed Captioning is available.

Margaret Circle
Margaret Circle will meet through Zoom on Thursday, November 5, at 1:00 pm. The topic, led by Barbara Morell, will be Feminism. We will approach the subject by answering the following questions:
- 1970s: Where were you, and what did feminism mean to you?
- 2020: What about women today? What has changed, and what is the same?
There will be more questions for discussion and a chance to discuss our reactions to the election.
If you would like to attend and are not a regular attendee, you are welcome and can contact Betsy Searight or email uucsjsadmin@gmail.com for more information,
