Skyview Upper Elementary School
From Mrs. Berical
We have adjusted to "Spring Forward" and are certainly looking forward to the Spring weather so that our students can get outside to play! This point of the school year can sometimes feel long. Because March can feel as though it is a long month, it is a great time to continue discussing perseverance with your child.
Perseverance is the ability to keep working on a task even if it feels difficult or the goal is not in sight. You can help your child understand how they can show perseverance at home and at school by asking them to talk about a time when they have persevered through a difficult task. You can even give them an example of a time when you noticed them showing perseverance. This can include times on the sports field, in a music lesson or any other extra curricular activity they may participate in. Ask your child how they felt when the task was over and encourage them to use meaningful words such as proud or accomplished verses happy or good.
It is my hope that you have had time to read Dr. Zerbe's email sent Tuesday afternoon around a positive mindset. If not, I am including the email below for you to view. As you can see, we are committed to helping your child maintain a positive mindset around the PSSA testing this year. To help meet this goal, we are hosting a PSSA Pep Rally on April 24th! At the pep rally, we will discuss perseverance in more detail and will focus on how we can show perseverance on the PSSA. We want our students to know that the PSSA testing is an opportunity to demonstrate their personal best and show what they know. In addition, students will be creating posters around test taking strategies in their advisory to hand up around the school.
We want all students to have a healthy and positive mindset around the testing. Partnering together to have conversations with the students around perseverance, positive mindset and growth is an excellent way to foster positivity. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns! I appreciate our partnership and the support you provide to your child at home!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Berical

To prepare for the PSSAs, our school is conducting several activities to promote a culture of success and celebration around testing:
1. Conversations and assemblies will provide positive mindset and set test expectations.
2. Students will work together to develop motivational posters for display in testing classrooms.
3. Building-wide celebration is planned for each school that reaches the test participation goal of 95%.
PSSA testing will occur on the dates listed here. To learn more about the PSSA, please join us for a Parent Information webinar with our administration on Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30pm. Click the hyperlinked dates for a direct link to either session. You can also submit your questions here.
Our commitment to the success of your child and all children is our mission. Thank you for your continued support of Methacton Schools.
Final Farewell to the former Audubon Elementary School
Join us for a final farewell to the former Audubon Elementary School. The building is scheduled for demolition in June 2023, and the district has organized a walk-through event to be held at the site tentatively on March 23, 2023 from 5pm-7pm.
Address: 2765 Egypt Road, Audubon, PA 19403
This event provides an opportunity for community members to come together to tour the building, share their memories of the school, and celebrate the many years of learning and growth that took place within its walls. We hope that you will be able to join us for this special occasion.
***Please note that due to the required abatement process and removal of supplies from the building, the planned date for the walk-though could be rescheduled. We will communicate a date change should the need arise.***
