Message from Mrs. Phelan
Greetings!
As we approach the final days of the academic year, anticipation is high for our Annual Memorial Day Celebration scheduled for next Friday, an event exclusively for our students and faculty.
I am thrilled to announce the return of the highly-anticipated Lowell's Got Talent Show, catering to students in grades 3-5. Excitingly, our buddies from grades K-2 will have the opportunity to attend this spectacular showcase. Further details concerning this event are outlined below.
Reflecting on the past week, we had the privilege of witnessing our fifth-grade students complete their MCAS assessments, marking another successful milestone in their academic journey.
Looking ahead, our calendar is brimming with various engaging activities leading up to the academic year's conclusion. I encourage you to stay informed by reviewing notices and newsletters to stay abreast of the latest updates pertinent to your child. Additionally, detailed information specific to grade levels and individual classrooms will be communicated by respective teachers.
A significant highlight to mark on your calendars is the Grade 5 Moving On Ceremony, set to take place on the Lowell Ball field at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 13th. Furthermore, we will host our annual clap-out ceremony dedicated to our fifth graders on the final day of the academic year, commencing at 11:45 am. Please note that student dismissal on Friday, June 14th, will be at 12 noon.
Moreover, Field Day has been scheduled for Thursday, May 30th, promising a day filled with fun and camaraderie for all participants.
As we navigate these upcoming events, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and collaboration.
With Gratitude,
Stacy & Ben
Curriculum News
Next year all elementary classrooms in grades K-5 will be adopting Wit & Wisdom as our new Literacy Curriculum! We are very excited for this new program, one of several High Quality Instructional materials approved by the MA State Department of Education. Students will read many new great books as a class, they will learn key vocabulary, and produce several pieces of writing all connected to the big topic of the unit.
During these units, students will study key topics, many of which are connected to Science and Social Studies. Students in Kindergarten will participate in a unit titled The Continents: What Makes the World Fascinating In Kindergarten. Students in grade 2 have a unit about Outer Space: How do people explore outer space?

Lowell's Got Talent
We are excited to announce this year's talent show! During the day, we announced the news to our students. They are so motivated for this event!
The talent show will be on Wednesday, June 12th. Students from grades 3, 4, and 5 are allowed to perform. Students from grades K, 1, and 2 will be the audience for their buddies.
Today, students were given a sign-up form for the talent show. They can either use this form or opt for the convenience of signing up through the provided Google Form.
We hope this event presents a fun way to end our year!
Visit of an author in 3rd grade
Ms. Walsh and Ms. Frank's 3rd-grade class had the honor of receiving a visit from Jacqueline Davies, the author of the "Sidney and Taylor" book series. We invite you to read her newsletter, where she shares her experience visiting our school and connecting with our students. She was inspired to visit because three students wrote to her, requesting more books in one of her series.
The students are proud and thrilled to have had the opportunity for a personal visit from an author!

Golden Leopard
We are amazed at how many students have been spotted! We are so proud to see children in the school working hard to demonstrate their commitment to our core values.
The Golden Leopard reward was created to celebrate our students. If a student earns a leopard spot for each core value in one week, they will receive the Golden Leopard reward.
They will receive a special certificate; their names will be announced during the morning messages and appear in the family newsletter.
During this week, we had four students that earned the Golden Leopard. Please congratulate Payton Matthews, Dominick Quintanilla, Levi Voit, and Davi Quintao!
