YADB Book Club Met for a Sneak Peak at Next Year's Reads
On Tuesday, the YADB Book Club met during ARE time to pick up the books we'll be reading next year. Some of the titles include a collection of diverse stories titled The Collectors by A.S. King, a novel in verse titled We Are All So Good at Smiling by Amber McBride and a novel about Black girlhood titled Nigeria Jones by Ibi Zoboi. Students were really excited to pick up their bag of books! If you haven't gotten yours yet, please stop by the library to pick them up so you can start reading them this summer.
Faculty/Staff Book Club Met to Discuss The Fury by Alex Michaelides
On Thursday afternoon, the Faculty/Staff Book Club met to discuss Alex Michaelides's most recent murder-mystery The Fury. Good reviews overall for his third novel that takes place on a private Greek Island that uses the Agatha Christie locked-room technique. While discussing The Fury and listening to a brief interview the author did on NPR, members enjoyed baklava from Greece and a sampling of dried fruits as an homage to the author's home country of Cyprus. Most of the Book Club members have read his first murder mystery The Silent Patient which is a page turner and our favorite of his three novels. We have all of the titles mentioned here along with his second book The Maidens in the library. Stop by to check them out if you'd like to add them to your summer reads list!
