McCord Messenger
September 20, 2024
Help us reward your students:
At McCord, we try to catch our students when they are behaving extra kind or when they are working extra hard at academics and reward them for that. We are looking for small items that can be used as incentives for students on Reward Days or for Paw Prints. Please consider donating small items that can be used as rewards. Donations can be turned in to the office.
Examples of prizes: rubber ducks, pencils, candy (jolly ranchers, lollipops - no peanut butter.)

Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship entails the responsible and ethical use of technology, equipping students to navigate the digital world safely, fluently, and ethically while being purposeful, resilient, curious, and kind participants in a digital environment.
Digital Fluency: The ability to discover, evaluate, communicate, and use information through digital technologies effectively, ethically, and efficiently.
Digital Safety: Making safe, ethical, and responsible decisions when using digital technologies.
Digital Balance and Wellness: The importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with digital technologies in the classroom and personal life.
Digital Equity and Inclusion: Affording access and addressing barriers to digital technologies, giving opportunities to all stakeholders to participate fully in the digital world.
Students are growing up in a complex world, and our role as educators is to guide them to explore and engage in their interests while providing strategies to problem-solve and manage their behaviors, emotions, and thinking. Students should engage in authentic learning, producing meaningful work while positively contributing to our community.
The Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club is hosting a youth exchange student for the 2024-2025 School Year and we are looking for host families! The student is a 16 year old boy from India. He is a vegetarian (no eggs). His interests include ping pong, gaming, art, listening to music, and cooking! The student is attending Worthington Kilbourne High School. The commitment is approximately 3-4 months. The student will likely move from the first host family to the second in late November or December. The move to the third host family will likely take place around March.
If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Emily Biondo by phone (630-347-7939) or email (emrbiondo@gmail.com).

Ski Club
Worthington Ski & Board Club will be having their information meeting at WKHS on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30 in the auditorium. If your son/daughter is interested in this club and you want to find out more information, please plan on attending this meeting. Cost, dates, sign-up procedures, rentals, lessons, etc. will be discussed at the meeting. Ski & Board Club is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
I have heard about the Worthington Hills Elementary bike bus. I believe I have even seen a video at Convocation. I wanted to find out a little bit more and I always enjoy the opportunity to get on my bike. I decided to join the bike bus this week. When I finished the ride on Wednesday morning, I was incredibly impressed with how organized it is and how many students, parents and neighbors participate. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of what I heard was the largest group of riders.
