Important Reminder: Remote Learning Days for Severe Weather Closures
Dear Lewiston-Porter Community:
As we move into November, we want to remind you of the process for school closures due to severe weather. For the third year now, Lewiston-Porter has opted into a New York State Department of Education initiative, allowing us to transition to remote learning on weather-related closure days. This approach enables us to count these days toward the required 180 days of instruction for all K-12 students.
At Lewiston-Porter, we’ve prioritized technology integration and a one-to-one computing model, allowing our students to transition seamlessly to remote learning when necessary. Please take a moment to click the link below to review the entire K-12 remote learning schedule. Additionally, each building will provide more detailed follow-up information about specific grade-level needs during remote learning, including assignments for the asynchronous learning time built into the K-5 schedule.

While our remote learning schedules are designed to be as clear and accessible as possible, we understand that some families may still find this process challenging, particularly at the elementary level. If a student cannot log on while marked as absent, our teachers will ensure that assignments for the day are provided and that students have adequate time to complete any missed work.
Please thoroughly review the remote learning schedule, focusing on your child’s specific building or grade level requirements. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the building principal.
In past years, our calendar needed to include additional buffer days for potential weather closures. By moving to remote learning on these days, we’re now able to return those days to students and families for planned activities and family time.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we move into the winter season.
Sincerely,
Paul J. Casseri,
Superintendent of Schools
Lewiston-Porter Central School District
