Needs identified by our SIC this year
- Understanding our designations of underperformance
- Understanding our goals in both state and federal plans of improvement
- Supporting PTA and school events to build a strong sense of community
Buddy Up
Buddy UP is a new club at York Road Elementary School this year. It is an inclusion program that promotes friendship and acceptance for students with special needs and their general education peers. It promotes acceptance for students with disabilities and those living with adversity while empowering all students to appreciate differences, build genuine friendships, and stand up to bullying. Society and education often puts labels on students with disabilities but students with disabilities have the same needs as their peers for friendship, acceptance, and unity. Buddy UP envisions a world where people of all abilities give respect and kindness to one another and interact meaningfully. This club will meet at least two times per month during the school day to socialize and participate in teacher-led activities that provide opportunities for mutually enriching friendships and experiences within the special education classrooms, school environment, and Rock Hill community. At club meetings, students look forward to special events, activities, games, crafts, and much more! By having a safe and fun space to gather, students are able to build genuine friendships, learn new social skills, and become a positive influence at York Road Elementary.

The students at Dutchman Creek Middle School (Go Gators!) & Northwestern High School (Go Trojans!) graciously shared their time and talents with us throughout the year. These students helped us provide unforgettable experiences for our students and their families at York Road Elementary events and we are grateful for their support. We were able to do some pretty amazing things with the grit and determination displayed by these young people and we can't thank them enough for their support!
