Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year! 🎉
It has been an exciting summer at MTSD and we have worked hard to prepare for a successful school year ahead. This week, our teachers and staff members returned to campus to kick off the school year with our annual PACE Institute. PACE stands for, “Prepare, Align, Collaborate, Evolve” and serves as an opportunity for all MTSD employees to come together to engage, reconnect, build enthusiasm, and get ready to welcome students back into the classroom.
In MTSD, we have defined what it means to empower our students with a Districtwide commitment - an Empowerment Promise. In our work, together, we align our goals, support one another, and with every opportunity we are presented:
We cultivate trusting relationships with our students.
We provide an encouraging learning environment.
We build students’ confidence, capabilities, and personal insight.
MTSD will do this by maintaining a focus on our students' academic achievement and growth while recognizing the social and emotional needs of our students and staff members. We will continue to ensure students have access to the resources they need to feel supported and prepared academically, socially, and emotionally. We will continue to find ways to come together as a school community to ensure our students are equipped with what they need to succeed. Our ability to come together to support and recognize the value that our public schools provide our community is a primary component of living our mission: Together, we ignite each student’s passion for learning, preparing for a life of infinite possibilities.

NEW: Report Student Attendance Through Infinite Campus
New for the 2024-25 school year, parents and guardians are encouraged to submit absence requests for their student/s through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This new process is meant to take the place of submitting student absences via phone or email and, once fully implemented, will provide a more quick and efficient way to manage your student/s’ attendance.
Please click here for directions on submitting an absence request via Infinite Campus on a desktop/laptop computer or on a mobile device.
Please click here to review Frequently Asked Questions about submitting an absence request via Infinite Campus.
Transportation & Here Comes the Bus
Student transportation information is now available in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. To get to transportation information, please log in to the portal and then navigate to More > Transportation.
MTSD families also have access to “Here Comes the Bus,” a mobile app that allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, using the GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped. For more information and instructions on how to set up your account, please visit www.mtsd.k12.wi.us/HereComesTheBus. If you have questions about the app, please contact Riteway at 262-512-1044.
School Meal Payments & Nutrition
Students use an online lunch accounting system to purchase breakfast or lunch. To make deposits to a student account, parents may place a check with the Student ID number on the envelope and send to the school office by 9 a.m., or pay online to the student's account at myschoolbucks.com.
Please note: There is a $2.75 convenience fee associated with using the recurring auto-payment feature in My School Bucks. Access menus and nutritional information through Nutrislice.
The Feed: Student Nutrition News

MTSD Board of Education Approves Operational Referendum Ballot Question
During its Regular Business meeting on Monday, August 19, the MTSD Board of Education approved a non-recurring operational referendum that will appear on the ballot Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The ballot question will ask Mequon and Thiensville residents to approve a resolution authorizing the district budget to exceed the revenue limit by a total of $26.4 million over four years for non-recurring purposes. The measure was approved by a vote of 6-1 and marks the first proposed MTSD operating referendum since 2006.
MTSD is known for its talented staff members, robust academic and co-curricular programs, and the incredible opportunities we offer to students throughout their time in our schools. At the same time, we are facing a serious budget crisis due to factors out of our control. Projected deficits will reach up to $6 million for the 2024-25 school year.
An approved referendum would enable MTSD to:
Balance the budget without tapping into reserves
Develop a competitive compensation system (including higher starting wages for support staff) to aid in the recruitment and retention of high-quality educators and staff
Manage healthcare costs
Move forward with delayed maintenance projects
Protect our Aaa bond rating
For more information on the district’s needs, the proposed operational referendum, exact ballot language, and the property tax impact, please visit www.mtsd.k12.wi.us/referendum.

MTSD is grateful for the support and generosity of the Foundation, and we encourage all community members to support the MTEF through giving directly, partnering through the donation of items or services, participating in MTEF events, and connecting others in your circles to the work of MTEF.
