Week of April 28, 2025
M-STEP Testing
M-STEP is continuing this week. This week, 4th graders will finish their testing. 3rd graders will be starting their testing. Please see the schedule below for exact dates. Please note that the M-STEP is required by the state of Michigan.
We ask that your child is at school on time on each of the scheduled testing days and comes to school well-rested.
Also, electronic devices (smartphones, smart watches, cell phones, book readers, electronic tablets, cameras, non-approved calculators, music players, voice recorders, etc.) are not allowed to be with students during the testing sessions.
Testing Dates (all testing sessions will begin at 9:35 a.m. unless a different time is noted):
4th Grade
Monday, April 28: Math
Tuesday, April 29: Math
3rd Grade
Wednesday, April 30: Math
Thursday, May 1: Math
Tuesday, May 6: English Language Arts

Testing is designed to be manageable for students by breaking it up into small sessions over several days. The testing schedule is designed to be safe, fulfill state testing requirements, and provide meaningful data while being minimally disruptive to learning as possible.
Professional Learning Morning
Our professional learning morning for staff will take place again this Wednesday, April 30. This means that it is a late start for students. The first bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. with classes starting at 9:25 a.m.
PTA Request- Staff Appreciation Week
Hello Upton Community. The attached link will take you to a Google document where you can give us your feedback and responses about our lovely teachers and staff in the school. We are hoping to compile these during Staff Appreciation Week May 5-9. If you can jot a few words in the link provided, that would be great!
Traffic in the Circle Drive
When you are driving in the Circle Drive to let students out of your car, please remember the following safety precautions as posted on our school website:
- Drop off area - There is only one lane for "drop off and pick up." Do not attempt to pick up your child from the drive-through lane. This causes more congestion in the circle drive and is not safe. If there is not room in the circle drive, please park on the street and walk to get your child.
- Pull all the way forward to the end of the lane before dropping off or picking up children
- Students should enter and exit on the passenger side of the vehicle only
- Do not exit your vehicle! NO parking in the "drop off and pick up only" lane
- Right turn ONLY when exiting the Circle Drive
May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
During the month of May, we encourage all of our students, staff and families to show support for mental health by wearing the color green on every Monday throughout the month. Green is the official color for mental health awareness as green represents renewal, hope, and vitality. To be seen in green, whether a complete outfit or just a touch of green, sends a message of advocacy and support for the importance of mental health.
