Greetings Trojan Family,

This is a message from your Proud Principal, Leslie Kinard.

FMS Picture Day

Tuesday, November 30th is Picture Day for students. Students come dressed to impress. These are the photos that will be used for student IDs and our school yearbook.

7th-Grade Immunizations

We would like to remind 7th-grade parents that the immunization deadline is November 30th. 7th-grade students must have the appropriate vaccinations by that date in order to continue attending school.

Student Schedules

We will be modifying our bell schedule to ensure we have the best possible environment for students to learn. Parents with older students who've attended Ferndale will be familiar with the schedule as it will be a return to the schedule used in previous years here at FMS. We hope a return to the familiar will continue to increase the productivity and effectiveness of both students and staff. The school will still begin at 9:20 and end at 4:20. Students will have their core class and encore daily.

Student Morning Drop-Off

6th and 7th-grade students will all be dropped off at Tower C (which is the entrance with the blue overhang). This will assist with traffic flow and make student drop-off safer for students and families.

Student Afternoon Early Release and Dismissal

Parents, please limit early dismissal pick-up at the end of the day, especially between 4:00 pm and 4:20 pm. However, if you have a student emergency or your student has an appointment, please notify the main office so we can ready your student for check-out.

Also, all car riders will need to be picked up in the front circle moving forward. Students being picked up on Ferndale Blvd is a safety hazard and we want to make sure all of our students stay safe.

Seventh and Eighth Grade Parents/ Guardians,

Every year students are asked to complete a career assessment. This year's survey instrument is YouScience, and it will take 1 hour for students to complete the assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to inform students of different careers based on their responses to the assessment. On November 16th, some students completed the survey. However, many were not able to complete the assessment. YouScience is not a typical assessment; it asks students to complete patterns and fill in the blanks while being timed. Students may get a bit frustrated because the assessment is tedious, but please encourage students to complete all portions of the assessment.
