Fremd HS Principal's Newsletter

February 2025
From the Principal
Winter is beginning to wind down, and spring will be here before we know it. This time of year is all about maintaining momentum: students started the semester with a fresh outlook, and even though it’s only February, they’re already focused on finishing strong and preparing for what’s next. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors have completed course selections for next year, and for our seniors, milestone events are just around the corner.
February is always a dynamic month at Fremd. We recently wrapped up Writers Week XXXI, our incredible annual event where students, staff, alumni, and professionals shared their voices and creativity. Throughout the month, we are also proud to celebrate Black History Month, recognizing the achievements and contributions of Black Americans through student-led initiatives and school-wide events.
Winter sports and activities are reaching their final stretch, and our students’ dedication has led to remarkable performances and achievements. Be sure to check out the Way to Go Vikes! section for highlights of their hard work.
Finally, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our incoming freshmen and their families, who are now receiving these newsletters. We look forward to seeing you at upcoming events as you begin your journey at Fremd!
Thank you for your continued support, and as always, Go Vikes!
Sincerely,
Mark LangerPrincipal

Booster Club Annual Fundraiser
The Viking Booster Club Spring Fundraiser is fast approaching!
Our 2nd annual Green and Gold Celebration will be a virtual auction and raffle, and an in-person celebration! The virtual auction and raffle will run from March 2-March 6.
Please note this year's online portion is ending before the celebration. This will give those who cannot attend the opportunity to participate. The in-person event will take place March 7 from 6-10 p.m. at Cotillion Banquets. The evening will include a buffet dinner, drinks, desserts, raffles, live auction, DJ, photo booth and a way to connect with your fellow Viking Families.
Last year was an amazing success and all who attended had a great time!
The funds raised from this event will be used towards scholarships and Booster Grants that teams, clubs, and organizations will use in the 2025-2026 school year. The 2024 event was a huge success, raising funds to support more than 20 student-facing organizations and teams, as well as scholarships for graduating seniors.
To participate, please visit www.GreenandGold25.Givesmart.com
Whether you want to donate an item for the raffle, bid on an auction item, make a donation, or purchase event tickets -- any support is appreciated.
The Viking Booster Club is grateful for the support of the Fremd High School community and is committed to continuing to provide the support our students need to succeed.

For the Love of Soup
Fremd High School held its annual "For the Love of Soup" food drive that collected more than 300 canned goods and raised more than $140 for the Palatine Food Pantry. Students prepared 10 different kinds of soup for donors to sample. What a "souper" event!
We Want Your Input! 5Essentials Survey
The annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey is open through March 1 and available for families.
We encourage you to participate, as your input will help guide our school’s improvement efforts. The survey assesses the following five components of success:
Effective leaders
Collaborative teachers
Involved families
Supportive environment
Ambitious instruction
Please note that each parent or legal guardian may complete one survey for each student.
This short survey is administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. It is important to us that each student’s family complete this survey, as we are then provided helpful information and feedback for improvement.
If you have questions, contact our school's survey coordinator, Scott Newmark, at 847-755-2618.
