Pumpkin Project
Every year, Mr. Alaownis and Ms. Haley (grade 6 teachers) assign a cross-curricular project involving Math and Science. Students learned how to mathematically calculate the number of seeds a pumpkin has, rather than counting them. Students then developed hypotheses relating the size/weight of the pumpkin to the number of seeds it has and then spent time looking at the data to make conclusions on the accuracy of their hypothesis.
Hitchcock Center at WMS
This week marks the beginning of a special collaboration with the Hitchcock Center of Amherst. Our 5th grade students will participate in three exciting Science lessons on Climate Change, leading up to a field trip to the center at the end of the month.

All-School Assembly: RESPONSIBILTY
Wednesday, we held an All-School Assembly to discuss RESPONSIBILITY. As one of the pillars of character, responsibility is an important trait to have in school, at home and in the community. Ms. Sears, Ms. DuBois and Mr. Brach spoke to the students about what responsibility looks like and how it can build people's trust in you.
iReady Awards
During our assembly, Ms. Thompson gave awards to six students in grades 4, 5 and 6 that have completed an outstanding number of activities on i-Ready in the first couple months of school.
Additionally, families are reminded that students can access their i-Ready accounts from home using their WPS Clever login accounts. i-Ready also has a family resources website. Please see the attached 2-page flyer for links and information.
