FAC Weekly Update
August 25, 2023
Good Afternoon, FAC Family
We hope you had a wonderful week! Here’s the latest from the halls of the FAC…
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
A Leadership Attitude Adjustment
“Life is like a baseball game; it’s 90% mental and the half is physical.” –Yogi Berra
"Ability is what you are capable of. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." –Lou Holtz
Attitude Statements:
1. Your attitude is a choice. The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.
Question: Does your attitude determine the situation, or does the situation determine your attitude?
- "The last of our human freedom is to choose our attitude in any given circumstances." –Victor Frankl
- "Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out." –John Wooden
- “It’s not the level of success you’ve achieved; it’s what you’ve had to go through to achieve it. –Booker T. Washington
2. Your attitude determines your actions. You are not what you think you are; but what you think, you are.
3. The people we surround ourselves are like mirrors: they reflect our attitudes in life.
4. Maintaining the right attitude is easier than regaining the right attitude.
William Downs Residency
Visual Arts Artist-in-Residence: William Downs
We had an amazing week with our Artist-in-Residence William Downs, as he dazzled our students with his work in the Sheffield Wood Gallery. William was warm and approachable with the students, engaging them in conversation and willingly discussing his artistic process. His artist talk on Thursday evening helped students and community members gain insight into his career, his creative thinking process, and his path from the Fine Arts Center to national recognition.
Thank you to Donna Shank for planning the residency, and to the FAC Partners for funding William's week with us. You can see his work on permanent display as you enter the FAC.
