Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 11th November 2016
we will remember them
poppies to remember
Children throughout the school learnt about the Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month and stood beautifully still and silent for a minute's silence in the playground as the Cathedral bells struck eleven o'clock today.
Year 1 also created their own unique poppy in bright red and black stones for display in the playground; our Nursery children enjoyed painting poppies; Year 4 made some vibrant paper poppies and Year 5 wrote some very moving poems.
wintry scenes
Thank you Colin!
It hardly seems a moment since those gloriously hot September days, and Colin our wonderful caretaker had scarcely finished sweeping up the leaves which fell late this year, before he was clearing snow! He did an amazing job, getting up very early on Wednesday morning to make sure our paths, playground and car park were clear and gritted.
Colin is a vital part of our school team, and thanks go to him also for locking up the school later than his usual hours after the Friends' disco tonight.

parent forum
We now have enough just about enough class representatives (could a Year 3 parent step up please!) for our first meeting of the school year which will take place in a couple of weeks. Thank you to all the parents who came forward, we even had to draw names out of a hat as we had extra volunteers for Reception and Nursery! A letter will be sent to each class separately letting you know your class reps and how to communicate with them to share ideas for the Forum.
year 6 charity group
The Year 6 Charity Group have been hard at work planning both for Children in Need and our chosen Christmas charity. Next Friday, 18th November, everyone is invited to swap their uniform for spotty clothes for a £1 donation to Children in Need. The most SPOTACULAR outfit will win a prize. There will also be Celebrity Quiz, Nursery Spot Hunt and Design a Spot competitions at ten pence each to raise extra money.
Donations for 'the one organisation' which is a local charity collecting gifts for local children in need can be brought to the big box in our entrance. Gift ideas include: stationery, sweets, new toys, baby clothes, new books (but no electronics or make up please). The deadline for gift donations is 12th December. Thank you.
Friends of Ripon Cathedral School Update
We're really looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at the disco - get your dancing shoes on! A polite reminder to ask parents and carers to stay with their children at the Infant disco between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. The Junior disco will be 6.45pm to 7.45pm. Enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who has offered to volunteer at our forthcoming events. There is still time to return your volunteer slip to the school office if you would like to lend a hand!
If your child submitted a design for a Christmas mug, they have been given to your child to take home today. If your child designed a Christmas card, these will be given out shortly. Thank you.
