From Principal Skomial:
Looking ahead, December brings its own opportunities for learning and celebration.
We're looking forward to having everyone together at our Winter Concert on December 11th. We will be trying a new format this year to avoid having all of our K-3 students being on the stage at the same time. This year, Kindergarten and 1st grade students will perform by grade level and then altogether. After their performance, they will go back to Lincoln. Next up, our 2nd and 3rd grade students will perform by grade level and then altogether. This should help alleviate the congestion on stage. If you have children in K-1 and do not wish to remain for the 2nd and 3rd grade performances, there will be a very short intermission in between performances.
Be sure to check the calendar for upcoming events and important dates as we wrap up 2024 together.
If you have time for your children to practice the songs for the Winter Concert, here is the link to the recordings from Mr. Bova.

From Our School Counselor, Mrs. Rigas:
From Our School Nurse, Mrs. Jacobus:
Friendly reminder for PreK and PALS families:
Every child under the age of 5 who attends preschool or daycare in New Jersey is required to receive an annual influenza vaccination, (“flu shot”), for the 2024-2025 flu season. The deadline for completing this requirement is December 31, 2024. If your child will be five years old by December 31, 2024, the flu shot is not required.
Any student who is under the age of 5 returning to school on January 2, 2025 without documentation of having received the flu vaccine will not be able to attend class and will need to remain at home until they receive the vaccine. This is strictly enforced by the Rockaway Borough Health Department, so please plan early to avoid any interruption in your child’s education as we are not permitted to make any exceptions other than for students who already have a religious or medical exemption on file.
If you have already submitted documentation of your child’s flu shot, thank you very much!
If your child received a flu shot this fall and you have not yet submitted the documentation, please send it in to school as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your cooperation with this policy. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, or you may contact the Health Department nurses at 973-537-7118.
If your child is seen by a doctor and has a diagnosis, it is helpful to communicate this with Mrs. Jacobus. Doing so will help her to be able to track trends and inform parents, when necessary. Thank you for keeping your children at home when they are ill. 🤒
