You can find the foundation of their objectives listed below as well as a link to a more detailed outline of their vision for the school year. I could not be more excited to see where these objectives will guide us in our path toward ensuring every student is successful.

WPUSD EARLY LITERACY ASSESSMENTS📖
Grades TK-2
This year, teachers in grades TK-2 will be sending home information about your child's 'Beginning of the Year' scores on our District Reading Skills Assessment. These assessments help teachers better understand where your child is starting on their reading journey. Please don't worry over your child's scores, as they only reflect where your child is starting out, and students are not yet expected to have mastered the information in the assessments. So you can track your child's progress, we will send you a progress report at the end of each trimester.
At the end of the first trimester, your child's teacher will schedule a conference with you go over the assessments in more detail and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. We encourage you to take the time out of your busy schedules to meet with your child's teacher, as this will be invaluable information for you to hear. If you have any questions about the assessments or scores, you can reach out to your child's teacher at any time.
TRANSPORTATION 🚌
Bus Pass Information
Click HERE for bus pass applications and information on bussing. As a reminder, not all schools offer transportation. Please see the transportation application to see if you qualify (if your child's school is not listed on the application, you do not qualify). We offer transportation to all families who live outside of our city limits.
Routes & Times
You can find the Bus Routes and Times on the Transportation website HERE under 'Information'. Or you can find a direct link HERE.
WHAT'S COOKING IN FOOD SERVICE 🥦
New Year, New Look!
Last month, we announced a new look for our Food Service Department! Plateful by WPUSD is our official new department name and we have a new logo! We look forward to offering better, more delicious, scratch cooked meals for our students.
Read more about what's on the plate for this year (see what we did there?😉).
Plateful is on Facebook and Instagram! Be sure to follow our pages to see what new menu items are coming up and what locally sourced ingredients you can find in your student's meals.
New Menu Items!
We have added many new items this school year, including smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, fresh baked muffins, cheese quesadillas and our new fresh take/bake pizza. We are looking forward to rolling out more new items over the next few weeks!
Orange chicken and rice served with a quinoa salad and fresh veggies
Smoothies!
Sausage breakfast sandwich served with fruit and a cheese stick
Harvest of the Month is BACK!
We are excited to bring back our Harvest of the Month program. September will feature many varieties of locally grown melons at all our school sites!
A Few Reminders. . .
Breakfast and lunch menus can be found HERE.
Remember, meals are free regardless of a family's ability to qualify for meals. However, if you are interested in applying for free/reduced meals you can achieve that here.
Want to help your student get through the lunch line faster? Help them practice their lunch number! It is the last 5 digits of their student ID.
COVID🤒
COVID Protocols
COVID cases are on the rise. Please be alert to potential COVID symptoms in your students, and if they have a fever or test positive, please keep your students home and call the school office.
As of right now, there are no changes to the COVID protocols from when the last school year ended. The biggest change will be in how families can find out if there have been any positive cases at their school site. Rather than sending ParentSquare notifications, families wishing to check recent COVID cases/locations can use the tool on the district website HERE. Information on current protocols, including recommended isolation periods and returning to school after a positive COVID test result can be found on this same page.
CREEKSIDE OAKS UPDATES ROOFING AND GUTTERS🔨
3 portable classrooms at Creekside Oaks were in great need of new roofing and gutters. Those were recently replaced and are looking great! Thank you to our Maintenance and Operations team for getting the job done!
TBHS PORTABLE PROJECT COMPLETE🦏
Due to increasing enrollment beyond what we projected (or had the space for), the District made the economically feasible decision to relocate the unused portables at Lincoln High School to Twelve Bridges High School. In doing so, TBHS can accommodate the increasing enrollment from students not only residing withing the Twelve Bridges attendance boundary, but those participating in specialized programs offered only at TBHS. The project was complete in time for students to start the school year and so far, has received positive reviews from students! They are happy to have the added classroom space.
SCHOOL SAFETY UPDATES🦺
Joint Reunification Training Recap
Over the summer, school sites, the District Office, Lincoln Police, Lincoln Fire and the City of Lincoln brought teams to Twelve Bridges Middle school to learn and plan for reunification through the Standard Reunification Method (SRM). As a result of this training, we now have set plans and designated teams should we need to conduct a reunification. Depending on the situation, reunification will take place at the school sites or pre-identified locations in the City of Lincoln. We are grateful for the time and dedication our staff, as well as city staff put into this training and planning in an effort to better prepared in an incident.
AEDs Now at All School Sites
In August, Lincoln High School had a medical emergency at a football game that required the use of an AED on a player. In order to increase the safety of each site, all of our schools now have an AED on campus. Installation and training occurred on 8/23. State law requires that all secondary sites have AED’s, but in WPUSD, all sites have them in case of a medical emergency.

COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CAC) FOR PLACER COUNTY 🤝
WPUSD recently filled our Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which is a committee that is composed of professionals and parents within Placer County. The CAC is made up of parents (typically of students receiving special education supports and services) representing each school district in Placer County, along with community members or district staff who support students with special needs and their families. The CAC serves as an advisory committee to the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) in reviewing local plan policies and procedures to ensure that parents' perspectives are considered in the provision of programs and services throughout Placer County. The CAC meets every other month on Wednesday mornings during the school year at various districts in Placer County.

ANNUAL EMERGENCY CONTACT UPDATE/VERIFICATION🚨
Review/Update Your Emergency Contact Information 2023-2024
At the end of last school year, your child's school sent out notifications to update/verify your emergency contact information using your PowerSchool Parent Portal. As a reminder, this needs to be completed by every returning family. Families who recently registered their child for school (new to WPUSD) do NOT need to complete this process.
For instructions on how to access your PowerSchool Parent Portal account click HERE.
ANNUAL NOTICE OF PARENTS' RIGHTS📃
WPUSD Parents' Rights Handouts
State law requires our school district to provide annual notice to a parent or guardian of certain rights and responsibilities. The parent or guardian is required to acknowledge receipt of this notice by signing and returning the "Annual Parent Notice & Acknowledgement Form" to your student's school. Please only complete this form if you HAVE NOT submitted your Emergency Contact Update online, located HERE
COMPLETE THE HOUSEHOLD INCOME FORM🏠
Please Complete a 2023-24 Household Income Form to Help Your School Maximize Its Funding!
DID YOU KNOW?
A portion of every school's funding is determined by the needs of its students. Extra funding is usually distributed to schools based on submitted free/reduced meal applications but this year the state is providing schools with the option of using the Household Income Form. This form can easily be completed online and will provide your school with extra funding. Please note that for the 2023-2024 school year all students are eligible for FREE meals, so extra funding will be distributed differently and the Household Income Form is the best source to increase your school’s funding.
WHY FILL OUT THE FORM?
- additional support staff for schools, like Instructional Aides, Intervention Support Providers, and after school tutors
- more resources for classrooms and teachers
- additional health and wellness services
- fee waivers for college applications
- fee waivers for college admissions exams (i.e. SAT/ACT/AP)
It’s a quick process and only needs to be completed once for each household. By taking the time to fill out this form, you are taking part in a process that might provide thousands of dollars in funds to the school your student attends. You can also access this form when you are updating your Emergency Contact Information and Waiver Forms in your Parent Portal account.
If you need assistance in completing this form please contact your child's school office or the District Office (916) 645-6350 and we can help!
