Principal Message
Happy Thursday! A few important items to note:
~ Early Release: Our next Early Release is already next week. Please fill out this GOOGLE FORM to let us know what your child(ren)'s plans will be. Since we have to track nearly 400 students, we ask that families fill out this form each month--one form for EACH child. Thank you for your cooperation.
~ Title I October Update: Washington's Parent Engagement Plan emphasizes the importance of collaboration between parents and educators. We encourage you to participate our school activities, attend meetings, and provide feedback to help us create a supportive learning environment for your child. A copy of our Parent Engagement Plan is available upon request.
~ Box Tops & Hy-Vee Receipts: Just a friendly reminder that the PTO collects both of these things. You need to download the Box Tops for Education app in order to submit receipts, but it's super-duper easy and well worth the time, as the dollars add up! You can submit Hy-Vee Receipts to the Washington office OR send them with your child, and we'll make sure they get to the right place.
~ Walk-A-Thon Info: This is the PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year, and the goal is to raise $12,000. As of today, we have already raised nearly $5000. The envelopes are due tomorrow, Friday, October 4. Please try to get these turned in ASAP so we can plan accordingly for "Double Paw Ticket Week", "Pie in the Face", AND "Mrs. Haggerty Sleeping on the Roof"!!!!!
The actual walk is on Thursday, October 10th--rain or shine. All parents are welcome to join in and walk with their child(ren). Please return the Walk-A-Thon envelopes by Friday, October 4 if at all possible!
Grade levels walk at the following times:
1:10 - 1:30: Kindergarten & 3rd grade
1:40 - 2:00: 1st grade & 4th grade
2:00 - 2:20: 2nd grade & 5th grade
~ Birthday Treat Reminder: We have already seen many birthday treats that are food so far this year. Your help and support with NOT celebrating with food is appreciated for many different reasons. At Washington, we value celebrating your child on his/her birthday. ISD 77 has developed a wellness guideline in an effort to develop a healthier school environment. To support this initiative, Washington would like to share suggestions for how your child could celebrate their birthday at school without food/sweet treats. If your child chooses to celebrate at school, they may choose a celebration from this list. Please inform your child’s teacher of your choice prior to the celebration day. Also, unless an entire class is invited to a party, invitations should NOT be distributed at school.
~ PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting is Monday, October 7th at 6:00pm in the Washington Media Center. ALL are welcome! We do not have child care available for our October meeting, so please be aware of that--our apologies about this! You can also join virtually using this link.
As always, thank you for the support your provide to your child, to our teachers, and to the larger Washington school community! We simply could not do what we do without each of you!

MCA/ACCESS Spring Assessment Results
Parents and Guardians,
We hope this letter finds you well as we enter the first few weeks of autumn. As we continue to enhance our communication and streamline access to important information, we are pleased to inform you of a significant update regarding your child's academic progress.
As our data is updated throughout the year, we work to inform you when recent data has been updated within Infinite Campus parent portal. Your child's MCA/ACCESS spring assessment results are now available for you to view under the student test detail tab.
To access your child's reported data in Infinite Campus, simply log in to your parent portal account using your credentials. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions about accessing or interpreting the data, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's school. Click here for a complete set of directions to help walk you through the process.
We believe that by making assessment data readily available on Infinite Campus, we can strengthen the partnership between home and school, working together to ensure the academic success and well-being of every student. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of your autumn, and we look forward to a successful academic year!
We earned our first Walk-A-Thon Milestone: Chalk At Recess!
Fall Panorama Survey for 3-5 Students
Dear Mankato Area Public School Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Mankato Area Public Schools values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children! Students are important partners as we work to improve our communication, academic program and overall experience for everyone.
In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will be completing at school. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete.
We are asking that all of our students participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor to support us in administering these surveys.
Our students have many qualities and skills to succeed both in school and in everyday life now and in the future. Qualities such as humility, curiosity, empathy, resilience, and self-awareness often aren't measured through traditional methods. By administering SEL screeners and seeking to understand how students feel about themselves, we are valuing student voice and emphasizing the importance of supporting them in their development. It’s essential that we hear from our students.
Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by calling Washington at 507-345-3059. We will then send home an opt out form for you to sign and return. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact me at Washington Elementary.
Thank you once again for your collaboration.

Student Accident Insurance
Student Assurance Services is offering student accident insurance to MAPS families again this year. In the past, there have been flyers to distribute. This year, all communication will be paperless. Below is a letter from MAPS and some additional documents that may be helpful.
