CES Building Improvements
You may have noticed that our school has undergone some recent facility work including a fresh, new paint job at the building's Main Entrance and the reconfiguration of the courtyard to the new and improved SHARKyard.
The SHARKyard work began with removal of the overgrown and underused planting beds, greenhouse, and storage buildings. The laying of AstroTurf makes for a safe, clean, and maintenance free space we can all enjoy. Work will continue over the course of the year with the installation of a performance stage and seating, raised planting beds for science studies, and the installation of tables for outdoor learning. Don't be surprised to find some sharks incorporated into the design as well.
Thank you to Mr. Michael McMillan the MRSD Business Manager, Mr. Rick Travers the MRSD Facilities Director, Mr. Greg Hines CES Lead Custodian, and Dr. Scott Carpenter and Dr. Robin Millen for their support of this ongoing project. We love what has always been accomplished and can't wait to see what is next!!

Health Notes from Nurse Heidi
Annual Health Office Screenings to Begin Next Week
Massachusetts General Law, chapter 71, section 57 with related regulations 105 CMR 200.000 mandates that school nurses do periodic screenings of vision, hearing, growth (height and weight) and posture.
- Vision: Grades PK-4
- Hearing: Grades K-3
- Growth (Height and Weight/BMI): Grades 1, 4
Parents/guardians will be notified if a vision, hearing, or postural screening requires further evaluation. Included in this notification will be a request for a report from your healthcare provider of their findings so that the nurses are aware of any problems which may interfere with learning and can accommodate any needs that are identified.
Parents may choose not to have their child participate in any or all screenings. Please notify your school nurse in writing if you wish for your child to opt out of a screening. This must be done annually.
If your child is receiving treatment for a vision, hearing, or postural concern, please provide your school nurse with current medical documentation of his/her condition.
Post Office Club
Each classroom and office was assigned a mailing address and mailbox. Students are encouraged to send letters/postcards to their friends and teachers in other rooms. Our post office club collects and distributes the mail once a week. You can also participate and send your own letters and cards. Check out the CES Directory to find your favorite Shark's address. Home letters can be dropped off at the Main Office to be distributed by our CES postal workers.
