They are SO back that Dora the Explorer wrote an entire song about them. The girls are SO back that they got Brutus over here sweating! And if you don't get that reference...read some Shakespeare!
So welcome back to sectionals, Warriors, and good luck tonight!
Finally the day has arrived, Halloween is here! Today is a day that has a lot of traditions behind it, but most importantly it’s about connecting with others and having fun, so don’t forget. But just because Halloween is here doesn’t mean the festive fun has to end. An exclusive interview is planned to be released, so hold tight and stay tuned for more info. Enjoy the day, and make sure to have fun.

You'll get a link on your email to log on to the website, and you'll answer questions about your social/emotional skills and immediately get feedback on your strengths and areas for growth. Some sample questions include: "How often do you take steps to reach a goal?" and "How often do you think about positive things?" Staff members will analyze the building-wide results to see areas where our warriors may need more support.
We will share more information about the DESSA over the next couple of weeks. We appreciate you taking the time to complete this!

> As you plan your costumes for this Thursday, we want to provide a few reminders that will keep the day safe and fun. Your costume should not cover your entire face, nor should it include realistic weapons. Please do not bring in items that you would ride on, including roller skates, skateboards, and scooters. Finally, please make sure that your costume is culturally sensitive. Part of creating a safe school community for all students on Halloween is making sure racially, ethnically, and culturally-based costumes aren’t part of our festivities, because cultures are not costumes.
While you might choose to dress as a famous person or character whose identity is different from your own, please do not darken your skin or use embellishments that reinforce stereotypes. Some examples of costumes that can be problematic include: Native American costumes involving headdresses or feathers, dressing as a Rastafarian, dressing as a person experiencing homelessness, dressing as a person with any physical or mental disability, or dressing in any costume that portrays a narrow or negative stereotype. If you have a question about your costume, please ask me or one of our assistant principals.

> And now over today's "Spooky Segment":
Vampires are a popular choice for costumes, but they weren't always an attractive Halloween staple. Vampires are creatures of the night that spend the day sleeping in coffins and at night sneak out to bite and drain their prey of blood. The next morning victims would wake up with a pale complexion drained of blood, and fatigued. When the infected died they too would become of the same type as the vampire that made them. To prevent this fate, there would only be one solution; their head would have to be cut off from their body. Vampires aren't real, but this is what was widely believed in 17th century England, when in reality two things explain these strange phenomenons: grave robbers and tuberculosis. Doctors and medical students that would rob graves to practice on the bodies, often called resurrectionists, would resort to such as there was no ethical way to donate your body to science. Tuberculosis is a deadly disease which gives the infected person symptoms of weight loss, fever, and blood-tinged coughing, all of which also cause people to form a pale complexion, one that gets worse as the disease progresses. Both of these happenings contributed to the modern tale of the vampire, corpses that got out of graves by themselves and drained others of blood. And although fictitious, it has always had an effect on the media, the monsters sparking literature like Carmilla, Dracula, Nosferatu, and more modern renditions like Interview with the Vampire, Twilight, and the Vampire Diaries. That’s it for today’s Spooky Segment, make sure to tune in tomorrow for the next one. And now over to a Fall into Fall photo contest reel.

> The JV Girls Volleyball team did not "Crumbl" under the pressure this weekend, and instead baked up a fresh performance at the Victor Tournament. They had a semi-sweet finish against Williamsville South in pool play with a touch of that chocolate chip, but just the right amount of salt to out score them by 2 points and finish in first place in their pool, going 5 and 1. Riley's defense and constant digs made us hungry for a Dirt Cake cookie, and CC's massive plays on the net made us think she was the Blue Monster! Meanwhile, Addie's setting was smooth as a Cake Batter Blondie! And Brielle was sprinkling kills and scattering them out like Reese's Pieces. All treats, no tricks: the girls finished in the top 8 out of 32 teams. What a way to box up the season, ladies! If you see these girls, tell them congratulations!
Girls Varsity Volleyball will play Gates-Chili on Halloween Night at Schroeder at 5pm in a pre-quarters match-up, after securing the 4th seed in the Class Double A standings. Go Warriors!
> The Morning Show would like to take a moment to recognize the outstanding performance the Webster High School Marching Band had this Sunday at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse in the New York State Field Band conference State Finals. The band earned a 92.1 overall, the highest score for Large School Class 2, winning them a State Title! Way to display excellence. Your teachers, your classmates, and your town are proud of you!
the spooky segment
Have you ever taken a step back and thought “why exactly are we dressing up in costumes and taking candy from strangers once a year?” Well, it all started as a Celtic holiday, Samhain, where people would gather around bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. The Western Christian holiday of “All Hallows Day” is celebrated on November 1st and is meant to honor the souls of those who have passed. The Halloween we know now is a mix of the both, the name coming from the word “Hallow’s Eve,” celebrated on the 31st. Even 100 years ago kids would dress up in costume and go door to door, knock, and in a big chorus say, “Help the halloween party?” That sounds a little different than what we know, and that’s because the phrase “trick or treat” was only popularized in the 2000s, while the act of trick or treating, called guising, only became common to all of America in the early 1950s. Guising is a tradition that was brought from immigrant Irish and Scottish communities to the US in the 1910s, but definitely took a few years to gain traction. Who wouldn’t like free candy? That’s it for today’s spooky segment and the Morning Show, make sure to tune in tomorrow for the next one. Have a great day Warriors!

> The JV Girls Volleyball team wrapped up their season last night with a 3 set win over the Eastridge Lancers. They finish the season with an incredibly impressive record of 13 wins and 2 losses. Riley H. found kill after kill easier than it is for John B to find lost pirate treasure. CC broke up the defense more times than Sarah Cameron and John B have broken up and Addie M's overall play was wilder than Rafe after a run in with the Pogues. Brielle R's passing and remarkable court coverage had us thinking JJ was out there on his dirt bike doing laps! Don't count the team OUT just yet...they will find some more wins at the Victor Tournament this weekend...you can BANK on that!
Varsity Girls Volleyball defeated the Lancers 3 to 1 last night in a special Senior Night celebration. The ladies finish the season with three back-to-back-back wins this week, improving to 8 and 7. Junior Chloe I ripped 6 aces, but it was the seniors who led the offense on their night! Julianna F had 11 kills, and Maddy B contributed another 10. Senior Gizele M. had 16 assists and in the backcourt, senior Annabelle W dug up 16 hits and Jules found 11 more. Stay tuned for a schedule announcement, but the girls will be playing on Halloween Night in their first sectional match. Congratulations to AB, Gizele, Jules, and MRB on a fantastic Warrior career!

Moment's later Jessica F and Jayna Z stormed back from being down 5-2 in the final set to win the last 5 games and win the 3rd set 7-5 and give the team a 5-2 victory. This was the team’s 6th straight win and the team is now 6-2 heading into their final week of the regular season.

> Good Homecoming Week Friday!
What a fantastic week it has been. Thank you all and let’s have a fun, spirited, and safe final day, ending with our pep rally.
1st I would like to thank our students in student council and our student council advisors for a homecoming dance. It was an incredible success and night! Well done.
For today, we have a modified bell schedule. Classes are a few minutes shorter.
At about 2:00 or so seniors will be called to the gym for their class photo.
At 2:30 we will begin to call grade levels down to the gymnasium. Please find your grade level to sit with.
As always, we expect it to be loud, proud, and positive. We are One Warrior today...cheer on all grade levels.
Only students who have access to the floor for activities will be permitted to be on the floor. Please do not go on the gym floor unless permitted. Thank you and enjoy your day.

> It was a fantastic night in the Schroeder Gym for a special Homecoming Edition of Girls Warrior Volleyball. JV battled a tough Victor team through the final points, winning the third set and remaining undefeated at 6 and 0 on the season.
Afterwards, Varsity took the court and took down Victor three sets to one and improved to 3 and 3 on the season. Impressively, the girls were down 19 to 23 in the 4th set, and ended up winning 6 consecutive points. Mama Mia! Serving 3 aces for the Warriors was senior Julianna F and it was "all Greek" to the Victor defense as senior Maddy B totaled 12 kills. We have a few future Olympians on the team though...give those juniors their medals: Sloane B and Maura U had 7 and 6 kills apiece. They might not have been playing under the Eiffel Tower, but junior Maddie S had 33 digs, senior Annabelle W had 13 assists and 11 digs...she deserves a vacation to Mykonos! And let's not forget sophomore Lucy R who shined bright like a diamond and said watch me glow ripping 3 aces, 4 kills, and 9 digs. The Warriors will partake in the Victor tournament this weekend.

Senior Annabelle W made it rain with 5 aces, Maddy B had 9 kills, and Sloane B made the offensive come alive with 10 kills. On the net, Maura U had 2 blocks and Gigi, Annabelle, and Gizelle combined for 23 assists.
Meanwhile, the JV Girls Volleyball kept their undefeated season going with a sweep and a win over Gates. Crucial BIG TIME serving from freshman Addie M secured a comeback win in set one, while freshman CC R also delivered consistent serves that kept the pressure on. The story of the night was freshman libero Lauren W switching things up in set 3 and racking up a BOMBASTIC kill. The Gates court might need to get refinished. We're calling it "TealGATE." We took a few Ls. I get it. But I'm coming back with vengeance. This years' shirts are crispy, they are clean, they make ya feel good! Stop down and see me this week to grab your dues. And I'm actually going to end this with a little rhyme WITH reason. If you paid your dues, I got a shirt for you. If you paid your dues, I got a shirt for you. We are Neon next week, hallway decorating happening after school on Wednesday. Let's lock in, Schroeder! Have a great day, Warriors.

> Mr. Benz read this announcement yesterday, but the Morning Show wants to re-run in for emphasis, or in case any student and staff missed the information:
Starting yesterday, each time a student enters a Webster CSD bus, they will be asked to swipe their student identification card on the reader near the front entrance of the bus. Students will be responsible for keeping the ID card in a secure location to utilize for boarding the bus. In the event that a student forgets their ID card, the bus driver will be able to mark the student as present or absent.
As a school, we will be expanding the use of the student identification card during the year as a universal school ID...more to come on that soon!
Later this week we will also begin our evacuation drills. Don’t forget that Open House for parents/guardians is this Thursday, the 12th from 6-7:30pm. Great first couple of days, everyone! Let’s keep it going.
