Outdoor Recess
The cold weather and snow are here! Please ensure you are sending your children to school with the necessary winter apparel—coats, hats, gloves, etc. All students are responsible for making sure they go outside in the winter clothes they were sent to school in. They should always come to school prepared as they never know when/if they will go outside.
If/when there is snow outside, only students with appropriate snow gear - coats, snow pants, and appropriate snow boots will be allowed to play in the snow.
- It's always good to have an extra set of clothes in their locker just in case they get wet from outside or from a spill in the lunchroom.
If you need any help in gathering any of these winter items, please let us know.

Inclement Weather Days
Dear Parents/Guardians:
When we have an inclement weather day, to maintain instructional continuity, District 48 will provide eLearning when we have an inclement weather day during the 2024-25 school year. We will follow the guidelines and schedules below:
Guidelines for eLearning
The goal is to ensure continuity of learning that is aligned to the most critical standards.
Students will have live, synchronous instruction (2.5 hrs or more) for their core content only, including ELA, Math, Science, and SS.
Teachers will provide 2.5 hrs of asynchronous (learning happening at individual student pace and time. Students will not be online with teachers but will work independently), learning and other schoolwork.
Students will share their work through either SeeSaw or Google Classroom (grade level dependent).
Case managers will coordinate and communicate service delivery for students who receive special education and related services.
Additional services (such as English Learner services or interventions) may be delivered as a student schedule permits; this will be communicated by teachers.
Schedules
Preschool: will provide 45 minutes of activities for students.
Salt Creek and Stella May Swartz: will provide 2.5 hrs of Livestream from 8:00-11:00 for core content. This will include two 15-minute breaks for the students. In addition, specials and other schoolwork will be asynchronous. Students can participate in this asynchronous work at any time for the remainder of their day.
Albright Middle School: will follow its regular schedule. Core content will be synchronous. Specials and other schoolwork will be asynchronous. Students can participate in this asynchronous work at any time for the remainder of their day.
