How Canada Will Look In 2050

Today I will be giving an in depth look at Canadian immigration, demography, and first nations. This will include current trends, future predictions and push/pull factors. Along with all of those I included an audio clip of me explaining how Canada will look like in 2050.

Currently 1 in 5 of all Canadians were born in another country. Every year Canada takes in 250 thousand immigrants. What I am trying to say is that Canada is a Country that relies on immigrants and has relied on immigrants since the early 1600's. Currently Canada is looking for skilled workers who are relatively young. This is because the working age of Canada is growing short in terms of population so there is a labor deficit. So how will Canada look like in 2050 in terms of immigrants. Canada is facing an aging population. Meaning in 2050 there will be a shortage of working class people and will have a higher dependency load. So Canada will accept the following types of people.

- Skilled workers with a young age (a future in their industry)

- Younger people in general

I think this because Canada is taking the shape of a cup pyramid. Many old people who cant have kids and fewer adults who dont want to have kids because of factors such as education etc. So Canada will start to except more younger people to re populate. Because of the increased number of older people there will be a labor deficit. So Canada will take more people of the skilled worker class to help fill that deficit. I think that this relatively low population will be one of the pull factors for immigration candidates. This with the low death rate because of the healthcare and education. More people will Come to Ontario also because it has the fastest growing amount of immigrants.

As mentioned before Canada is currently a point where we have more upper middle age people than young people. As shown below in the image the baby boomer of the 40's are about to retire. This means there will be a sudden shortage of jobs thus creating the future labor deficit. People are choosing to have less children or having children later in life. There is no urge to have children like other countries in Canada. Reason being is because people have access to good education and world class healthcare. One of the other main reasons is that the Canadian government isn't sufficiently providing financial support for new parents. The birth rate is currently 1.63. Meaning that there is less than 1.63 children per 2 adults. So in the future there will be more retired citizens than adults. This means a few predictions for 2050.

- Slower growing population

-Around 40 Million People

- A birth rate of 1.0 per fertile female

-Around the same death rate

I think the birth rate will lower even more because as technology advances and taxes increase to keep with the government pensions, less and less people will afford having more and more babies. So overall I think that the population will very slowly increase and there will be even more babies.

Currently 360620 people live on Native American reserves in Canada. Most of which fall under the Indian Act. The Indian act governs all designated Native reserves. In 2050 I believe there will be an increased population of Natives in Canada because the Native Indians have a substantially higher birth rate than us. I think this birth rate will continue to be the same because it is in thier mind set no matter what to keep having 3+ kids. They are also having better health care from the Canadian government and more funding. Which means that their death rate will also continue to decrease so they will basically be a stage three community in 2050 with a rapidly increasing population. In conclusion with more Civil rights groups and more people standing up I think that the overall native Americans of Canada will get more rights and more healthcare for better living and increased population.

In conclusion Canada is the greatest nation in the world but it does have it's share of flaws. Some of which include the population age and how much taxes we will have to pay in the future. As for the Native Americans, their standard of living will only continue to get better and so will their population. Thank you for taking the time to read this..
