And just like that the 3rd-9wk grading period is over the 4th - 9wks has started. Report cards went home on Thursday. Please continue to check PowerSchool regularly so grade concerns can be addressed in a timely manner.

EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. Attendance is important for learning. We need our students present every day possible. To encourage daily attendance, we started March Madness Mania for attendance.

How can you help with attendance:

• Please make sure your student is in attendance every day possible.
• Students who are in attendance at least half the school day, are actually considered present for the day.
• If they have an appointment, please bring them to school before and/or return them after their appointment. Being present for part of the day is better than missing all of the day.

ACAP testing is less than four weeks away. Our students have worked hard all year, and we can't wait to see them demonstrate their learning on the state assessment. Please help us by ensuring your student is in attendance for testing. Please take care not to schedule appointments during this time.

Monday, April 14th (AM only) - Science (Grades 6 & 8)

Tuesday, April 15th (AM only)- Math (all grades)

Wednesday, April 16th (AM only) - ELA-sessions 1 & 2 (all grades)

Thursday, April 17th (AM only) - ELA- sessions 3 & 4 (all grades)

April is recognized as the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor and celebrate the resilience and sacrifices of children in military families. Mountain Gap Middle School proudly supports our military-connected students and their families.

In recognition of their strength and contributions, we invite all students, staff, and community members to participate in Purple Up Day on Friday, April 11, 2025. We encourage everyone to wear purple as a visible show of support and appreciation for our military children.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating the Month of the Military Child and showing our gratitude to those who serve and sacrifice for our country.

Have you registered your student for next year on PowerSchool? All parents/guardians who need to complete student registration for the 2025-2026 school year may do so by visiting the Enrollment page on the HCS website and selecting "Returning Student Registration."

Parents should have received a 10-digit snapcode via email that the parent has provided. If you need your snapcode, please email Dora Monroe at dora.monroe@hsv-k12.org. We currently have 33% of our registrations complete. Our goal is to have 100% of our returning students registered before we leave in May.

All students have had their registration meeting. Course registration forms should already be turned in with a parent signature.

Take What You Need Station Update

All students at Mountain Gap Elementary & Middle School will receive free breakfast and lunch this year. A la cart items like chips and ice cream will be sold.

You can add money to your child's lunch account on the EZ School Pay site if you would like for them to purchase a la cart items.

Each week teachers will compile the information for their class into one grade-level memo. You will know what your child is studying, when homework is due and when they have tests and projects. Please check the grade-level memo each week. It is the best way to stay informed.
