FROM THE PRINCIPAL
It is hard to believe Term 3 is nearly over!
This term, we have scheduled opportunities to reflect and evaluate school processes, striving for excelling in all areas. The staff are embracing IMPACT meetings and have very comprehensive knowledge of the skills and strategies each student uses in Number and reading. Student behaviour has improved and the staff and I have seen growth in respect both in the classroom and playground. Well done Maryland PS!
Mobile phones
Students are not allowed to use mobile phones at school, including during recess and lunch. Students deposit their phone at the front office at the start of the school day and collect it at the day’s end (or when leaving the school grounds). Please support us in this request. It is the Department of Education policy that all mobile phones are banned in all public schools.
Enrolments 2025
Student enrolments impact the staffing and infrastructure of our school. If families are aware that they are relocating in 2025, please contact the Administration office. Also encourage local families to enrol at Maryland Public School especially any child/children who are eligible to start Kindergarten in 2025.
New Equipment
Thank you to the P&C for purchasing games and table tennis tables for our students to use at recess and lunch. Everyone is very excited to have an opportunity to play Jenga, Connect 4, dominoes and have a table tennis challenge (Term 4)!
School Hats
As the weather is warming up, all students are required to wear their school hats if they play outdoors. At Maryland Public School we have a No Hat Play in the Shade policy.
Curriculum Reform Days
Each term, staff engage in stage Curriculum Reform days to further build their capacity in mathematics and English. This term, we have deeply analysised NAPLAN and Check In assessment data, to identify student strengths and future focus areas. Developing Teaching Sprints in Number, has seen a lift in student number and place value skills and mathematical thinking across some classes.
Have a wonderful weekend!
