Law enforcement agencies to host lockdown drill at Bee Cave Elementary School Today, Wednesday, November 13, 2019
Dear Bee Cave Elementary School Parents and Guardians,
As you may recall, district officials recently introduced the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to school safety. The SRP is a proven method of creating shared language and actions among students, staff, and first responders during a school emergency. Since its adoption in August, students across our district have received an introduction and overview of the SRP including classroom practices and drills.
Today, representatives and first responders from various local law enforcement agencies will take part in a comprehensive lockdown drill at Bee Cave Elementary School. Parents, students and visitors to our school can expect to see numerous law enforcement officers, safety vehicles and other emergency responders. The drill is scheduled to occur in the morning and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
Our teachers and students have been advised of the drill and are prepared to participate. Please contact me with any specific questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Kellner
Principal, Bee Cave Elementary School

Students First Day Back from Winter Break
Dear Bee Cave Elementary School Parents,
As the weather is changing and students are wearing their winter coats to keep warm, please make sure that your child's first and last name is inside their jacket. Prior to the holidays, we will be taking items from the lost and found to be donated. The coats that are labeled will be returned to their owner. Students will have a couple of days before the donation to look for any items that may be theirs and not labeled.

Wishes for a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Principal Kellner
Good morning!
This Friday at assembly we will be reading the book How to Win Wimbledon in Your Pajamas (since it's Pajama Day!) so I thought I'd share the author's website with you in case you want to check it out/ share it with your kids. He's an 8th grader who wrote a series of books for kids about grit, perseverance, and mental toughness. We will briefly talk about how to use his simple strategies to not only help us with sports or other extracurricular activities, but also in school.
Also, the focus of all counseling lessons this month is Internet Safety. Look for more information in the next Beehive.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Trimmer

Morning Front Drop Off, Park, & Walk in
Dear Parents,
If you are using the front parking lot to park and walk your child[ren] in [in the morning], please walk them up to or into the front foyer. From the front foyer children are to walk through the second set of glass doors on their own to their class. Thank you for your understanding with this as we continue to keep our building safe and our processes and procedures efficient.
Absences
You may note your child's absence in Dismissal Manager. When you put the absence into dismissal manager, please know that you will get a notification from Skyward of your child's [unexcused] absence. If it is an excused absence, it will be corrected in the Skyward system with-in 48 hours. Also, by entering your child's absence into Dismissal Manager the registrar (Pam Mylius-Anderson, myliusandersonp@ltisdschools.org) and your child's teacher will get notification of the absence.
IMPORTANT NOTE: An absence letter is generated by our system if your child incurs 9 unexcused absences for three or more days or parts of days within a four-week period. This letter is required by law, to remind the parent that it is the parent’s duty to monitor the student’s attendance and to require the student to come to school. If the school feels that a parent conference is necessary, you will be contacted by the Assistant Principal, Ashley Nauta.
If you have any further questions or concerns about absences please contact our school registrar, Pam Mylius-Anderson, myliusandersonp@ltisdschools.org or 512-533-6263.
