Early Release
May 7th, 2024
Redwood Families,
This is just a reminder that the district will have an early release day on May 7th. Full Day Kindergarten and first through fourth grade students will start their day at the normal time, but will be dismissed from the elementary buildings at twelve noon. Dismissal will follow the same procedure as always. Walkers will begin exiting at 11:55 and car riders at noon.
For students in half day kindergarten and the LEAPS program, students that typically attend the morning session will not have school on this day. Students who normally attend the afternoon session will attend on the 7th, but will be attending in the morning session timeslot. For kindergarten students this is from 8:50-11:35, and for LEAPS students the morning time slot is 9:00-11:30. If your half day student is a bus rider, you should receive notification listing pick-up and drop-off times, if you do not, please contact the school office.
There will be NO Champions Program in the afternoon on the 7th. Students who typically attend afternoon Champions must be picked up at the 12 noon dismissal time.
All full day students will eat their lunches in their classrooms on the 7th. Lunch will start at 11:15 am and end at 11:45 am for all students. Students will have an opportunity to pack or buy their lunches as normal. There will be no extras offered on the early release day. If your child wants to receive a school lunch that day, there will only be one lunch option available.
The lunch option for the 7th will be:
Tortilla Chips
Salsa
Cheese
Apple Slices
Milk

Notes from the Nurse
As the warmer weather is approaching, so is allergy season. If your child has seasonal allergies, we strongly suggest making sure they receive their allergy medication and/or eye drops prior to coming to school. Due to the warmer temperatures, many classroom windows will remain open. While this helps regulate the temperature, it also allows for the allergens to enter the classroom. Any help from home would be greatly appreciated!
Please remember any student medication and/or medical supplies that you have provided for use at school must be picked up by a parent or guardian by the last day of school. By board policy, students may not transport any medication home. Medications not picked up promptly will be discarded, as they cannot be stored at school over the summer.
Thank you,
Kim Rose, RN
