Woody's Welcome Walk Tomorrow 👋
Woody’s Welcome Walk (formerly Kenwood Crawl) is a back-to-school tradition. Kids and caregivers are invited to walk or run around Kenwood Park with other kids and staff from their grade. Join to have fun, meet new friends, and get to know the Kenwood School Community. Create at the ARTrageous Adventures Creation Station. Enjoy food donated by our community business friends: Isles Bun & Coffee, Lunds & Byerlys, and Kowalski’s Market. The Walk is also a PTA fundraiser, supporting Kenwood's arts programs. Everyone walks! Donations are optional. Donate online here.
Still Seeking Volunteers!
Like many Kenwood events, the Welcome Walk runs on volunteer power, and we are hoping you may be willing to offer up a bit of your time on Saturday morning to help make this first community event a success. You can sign up here!

1st grade – 9:45 a.m.

Flu Shots
The Kenwood PTA is pleased to announce that flu vaccines (both flu shots and FluMist) will be available for caretakers, staff, and children (6 months of age and older) at the Walk. The vaccines will be administered by trained nurses from Homeland Health. This service is optional and free to families, but please bring a health insurance card if you have one. The PTA will cover those without insurance, and Homeland Health staff can help you apply for a vaccine assistance program. Please contact Meg (megan.j.montgomery@gmail.com or 919-423-2409) with questions.

Volunteers Needed for the Lunchroom and Recess 🍕🏀
Are you looking for an easy way to get involved at Kenwood? Volunteering in the lunchroom or recess is a great way! Kenwood has volunteers to help in the lunchroom each day and new this year, volunteers will be out at recess for 30 minutes.
Lunch volunteer duties include helping children open their lunches, serving lunch for the younger grades, cleaning up spills, talking with students, and sanitizing the lunchroom before the next group of students arrive. You can sign up during your child's lunch period or do multiple lunch periods. Grandparents, neighbors, caregivers are all welcome to volunteer! We are looking for anyone who can help out for at least 30 minutes weekly or bi-weekly.
Recess volunteers are asked to come ready to play with the students outside. Recess volunteers may supervise games or assist with door duty (managing who comes in and out of the building for bathroom or water breaks). Recess volunteers are new to Kenwood this year, so we will be learning as we go what works best for Kenwood.
Volunteers can sign up for lunch and/or recess:
If you can't commit to regular lunch shifts, please sign up to become a substitute:
If you have any questions about volunteering in the lunchroom, please reach out to parent volunteer Kelly Henry at kellybhenry@gmail.com.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to support Kenwood!

Family Spotlight Returns 💙💛
Last year, Kenwood introduced the Family Spotlight feature to celebrate the diverse tapestry of families who make our school such a special place. As part of this journey, we're eager for your family (or a family you know) to be featured in the Courier next month. Your narrative is an essential piece of our collective mosaic. Don't worry about having to write anything yourself; we will reach out to help you craft your story. If you're interested in being featured or would like to nominate a Kenwood family, please email Family Liaison Keri Mabry.
Every Meal Program 🍐🥦
The Weekend Meal Program provides students with 4-5 pounds of good food to take home at the end of each week. Families may choose from five food bag options tailored to various cultural dietary preferences or situational needs. Families can return brochure enrollment slips that went home earlier this month, or email Family Liaison Keri Mabry to enroll or ask any questions. Brochures are available in the main office.
