Falcon Flyer for Families!
July 22, 2024
Hello families! We look forward to welcoming our 6th graders on campus this week for our Falcon 6th grade camp. Camp days are July 24 and 25 from 9:00 - 12:00. Students will be introduced to middle school life through various activities planned. These days are designed solely for 6th graders. Students can select either day to attend, and they will receive their schedule at the end of the camp day along with other materials. Please reach out to Ms. Wilmore and Mr. Modla to sign up today! If your student does not wish to attend, he or she can attend the 7th grade registration day.
Many dates are already outlined for events this year including movie nights, Family Community Nights, dances, and more! At Registration, we will be sure and include a printout so our families can keep the dates handy. You can preview our calendar at the end of this newsletter!
Please enjoy the last few weeks of summer! If you have specific questions regarding the year, please make sure to reach out directly to administration. We are here to help!

SMS requests that students refrain from wearing hoodies to school as these items are often used to hide and disengage from the learning process. Teachers often have to address students often regarding removing hoods, and students will often keep phones in the pockets and wear earbuds underneath. In addition, this causes safety concerns by hampering our ability to easily identify students and students' ability to hear instructions. Help teachers and administration by keeping the hoodies at home. or if used as a jacket, then place in your locker with your backpack and phone at the start of the day.
Rising 6th graders--Welcome to the Nest!
We are so excited to welcome our 6th graders! 6th graders are invited to come to campus on July 24 and 25 from 9:00-12:00. 6th graders will be introduced to SOAR, our DLI and IB programmes, dress code, and expectations. They able to meet some teachers, Ms. Wilmore (counselor) and Mr. Modla (Assistant Principal)! School schedules will be provided. Come explore the Nest! RSVP to Mr. Modla at bmodla@rhmail.org and Ms. Wilmore at ewilmore@rhmail.org to attend!
Schedule Time!
Returning Student Verification
Proof of Residency--Save time and beat the line!
Please verify your student will be returning to our school next year by completing the returning student verification. You should have received an email from Rock Hill Schools. Please reach out to our registrar, Ms. Melissa Payne, if you need assistance. You can email her at mpayne@rhmail.org. Additionally, all returning students will need to provide a Proof of Residency in the form of a current utility bill (electric or gas) or a lease agreement. Those can be emailed to Ms. Payne, as well. Returning student enrollment will not be considered complete until that POR is submitted. All Rock Hill School families (who had students in the district last year) will need to update your child's verification and provide a Proof of Residency.
Parent Portal
Once you have completed verification, please register for Parent Portal. This hub has recently been updated with our Transportation Forms and Technology Agreement form. All families will need to fill out the technology form.
Only families looking for bus service need to fill out the transportation form. Requests for transportation are due by 5 p.m. on July 25 to ensure service on the first day of school. We cannot guarantee immediate service for any requests received after July 25 as we will have to place those students on an existing route, and it will take a few days to process the additions.
Parent Portal access is available on the PowerSchool website: https://rock-hill.powerschool.com/public
Does my child need any shots this year?
If your student is going into 7th grade, then YES! Please make sure to have proof of receiving the TDAP vaccine. You will receive more information soon from Nurse Bailey.
Arrival/Dismissal Information-Car Riders
Drop off and student supervision for Sullivan Middle School begins at 7:45. For safety, please use the drop off loop along Caswell and Cherry Park. Upon arrival, students have the opportunity for breakfast, then they will move to their designated areas until teacher pick up. 6th graders wait in the auditorium, while 7th and 8th graders wait in their grade levels in the gym. At 8:12, the car rider line will close, and students should be signed in to school with a parent/guardian after 8:15.
Please plan ahead and be mindful of traffic, including walkers, during arrival and dismissal. Please follow the lines and enter the car rider line according to the flow of traffic. Remember, Cherry Park Elementary will receive and dismiss students first, so please do not get into the car rider line until 7:45 and 2:45.
