Half Day
Exploring the Great Outdoors
Many school districts utilize Outdoor Education experiences like Half Day's to provide a unique opportunity for both cognitive and affective growth. Focusing on the group nature of the trip and utilizing the outdoor setting, many concepts and skill areas were explored by our fourth-graders last week as seen in these pictures.
The camp setting was less structured than that of the classroom. Outdoor Education provided the time, opportunity and teacher support necessary for students to gain insight into interacting with other people as well as exploring the great outdoors at Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wis.

Student Biologists Study Crayfish
During a third-grade science unit, students acted as biologists as seen in these photos while they closely observed the structures and behaviors of crayfish. As they observed the different behavioral and structural adaptations, students determined how these adaptations would help a crayfish survive in their natural environment. The students analyzed how the crayfish responded to changes in their environment as well as any territorial behavior. The crayfish activities also serve as a launching point for future literacy lessons on nonfiction research and narrative writing.
Medication Pick Up
Parents will need to pick up student medication that has been stored in the school nurse's office. Unclaimed medication will be properly disposed of after Friday, June 14, 2024. If your child is attending summer school, you will need to pick up your child's medication and take it to Daniel Wright or Sprague. The medication should be picked up at the end of summer school or it will be properly disposed of by Friday, July 12. Please contact your school nurse if you have any questions.
Medication administration forms can be found on the District 103 website. New forms must be submitted annually.
