Principal's Message
I sure hope the cold weather didn't stop your plans this weekend! Tomorrow marks just 2 weeks left until our extended Winter Break, and we have some Winter fun planned for this week. Our students will be performing at for our Winter Musical Performance curated and designed by our very own, Mrs. Griffin! We would love to see you and your family in attendance on December 11th, 2024 at 6:30pm for our Chorus Winter Program. Next week our Bigs and Littles mentoring program will also journey to Cedarville to cheer on the Cedarville Lady Yellowjackets at a basketball game. Since this is a short month, we have jampacked this month with tons of learning, assessing, teaching, and fun for our students. We need your help getting them to school everyday so that they can participate in all of our activities.
MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENTS ARE HERE ALL WEEK!
- ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES: The month of December we are asking that your students are at school EVERY DAY! Our students thrive when they have consistent school routines. Research suggests that missing anywhere from 1-2 days each month can cause students to get off-track academically and lead to ineffective social habits.
- ACADEMIC GOALS: CONVERSATIONS ABOUT LEARNING GOALS! Remember to have conversations with your students about what they are working on in class. This month our students in grades 2 and 4 will be taking gifted screeners to identify if they demonstrate traits for Gifted services. Please encourage them to do their best.
- PLAYGROUND EXPECTATIONS: If the weather feels like or is below 20° we will not be taking the students outside. Those frigid temps could lead to health concerns if students are out for extended times. Instead, we will be having indoor recess which includes drawing, socializing, mild physical movement (walking), and games. Please encourage your students to respect the space and expectations established during these times.
One of our major goals this year is to improve our attendance and reduce the amount of students who are chronically absent. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% of the school year for any reason. Although sometimes we may excuse an absence due illness or a family matter, those days still count towards missed instructional time and can therefore be calculated toward Chronic Absenteeism. Please continue to make sure your student is at school EVERY DAY!
Thank you,
Principal Goodwine

Exploring Information Technology and Computer Science Careers This December!
We are excited to kick off December with a focus on Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science Careers! This month, students will explore a range of innovative and lesser-known professions in these fields, gaining insight into how IT and computer science professionals shape our world through technology and problem-solving.
Throughout the month, we aim to help students see how these careers align with the core traits of our Portrait of a Graduate. IT and computer science professionals are exemplary critical thinkers who solve complex technical challenges, engaged collaborators who work in diverse teams to create cutting-edge solutions, lifelong learners committed to adapting to rapidly changing technology, global citizens who develop tools that connect people across the world, and thoughtful communicators who make technology accessible and user-friendly.
Here’s how your student will connect with IT and computer science careers this month:
Monthly Career Poster – Students will explore our IT and computer science career poster, which highlights interesting facts and showcases exciting career paths in these fields.
Weekly Announcements – Principals will share fun facts and highlight a new IT or computer science career each week during announcements. Students will discover how these professionals contribute to fields like healthcare, education, entertainment, and beyond.
We look forward to an engaging and inspiring month as we introduce our students to the dynamic world of IT and computer science careers and encourage them to imagine the possibilities for their futures!
