We take the safety and security of our students and our campus very seriously. All statements that raise concerns about the safety of our campus are immediately and thoroughly investigated to ensure the safety of our students.
We would like to take this time to remind students that their actions and words have consequences. This is a reminder to speak with your child that safety is nothing to joke about. We encourage you to speak to your child about the implications of joking or making false statements relating to campus or school safety. We also encourage parents to discuss social media usage with students and being responsible while on-line. Resources are available here: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/articles
Thank You
Gratitude to our OV Family
I would like to thank our families, our students, and our faculty and staff for being partners with us as we dealt with anxiety and frustration that came out of the social media rumors and threats of violence. Many of our families reached out to us to report what they had heard and seen so that we could take the necessary steps to follow up and collaborate with law enforcement as needed. We continue to encourage our school community to follow our District's message, if you see something, say something.
Thankfully, law enforcement authorities determined that the threat was unfounded.
We encourage you to speak to your child about the implications of joking or making false statements or fake social media posts relating to campus or school safety. This is a reminder to speak with your students that safety is nothing to joke about.
Please see the flyers posted below for information regarding emergencies. This same flyer was sent home at the start of the school year.
