November Newsletter
Seniors:
This school year is going to fly by, we are already mid way through your final first semester. Fall sports are wrapping up which means some of you have already experienced your first "senior" last moment!
Although you are approaching the end of your high school career, your first priority should still be your high school classes. Taking care of graduation requirements and finishing strong. It is not unusual for college admissions to take note of final semester grades when making decisions, potentially between two equally strong students or for grades to affect scholarship offers. Don't let yourself down at the last moment.
Meet with your counselor to make sure you have all the appropriate classes scheduled for second semester so that there are no surprises in February.
Fall check list!
- 1. Are you passing your required classes?
- 2. Are you attending regularly?
- 3. Do you have a plan for next year?
Remember your grade level team are here to help any time with questions or concerns.

Fill out the google sign in form if you would like to attend one or both of these events.
Here's what you need to know:
CWU-
*Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
*Students with a 2.5- 2.99 GPA may be asked to write an additional statement explaining any extenuating circumstances regarding your grade trend. This does not have to be a lengthy response, but be prepared if asked.
*The $60 application fee is WAIVED at this event!
WSU-
*Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
*The $70 application fee is not waived, but fee waivers are available if you qualify for free and reduced lunch and other financial circumstances. Talk to your guidance counselor to see if you qualify for a fee waiver BEFORE the event.
For BOTH CWU & WSU, you must meet the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADR) by graduation.
If you do not meet the GPA requirements listed, you can still apply to these schools separately from these OTS events and may be admitted.
Get your FSA ID before Dec 1st
If you are planning on going to a 2 year college, a technical college, a 4 year college/university, or a trade school, you should apply for financial aid.
You will need to know your social security number--not your card, just the number and your own email.
If you do not have a social security number or don't want federal aid, you will use the WASFA. People who complete a WASFA are applying for state aid. There are various reasons to complete a WASFA instead of a FAFSA. If you are not sure which application (FAFSA or WASFA) to use, complete the WASFA questionnaire in the link below.
Please complete this now so you are ready when the FAFSA/WASFA opens on Dec. 1st.
Financial Aid Help Nights
Financial Aid Help Nights are December 4 or December 12, from 6:00-7:30 pm in the library.
