Copper Beech Parent Update
Week of May 20, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Copper Beech Families,
Thank you for a great week at Copper Beech! We were thrilled to host Kathleen Holmes's author visit on Tuesday. Her engaging presentation captivated our students, who were eager to learn about her recipe for a great story.
On Thursday, we enjoyed our D.A.R.E. graduation. Officer Stahl and Officer Connelly bonded with our 5th-grade students over the course of the school year and taught them lessons about peer pressure, addictive drugs, and standing up for others.
Lastly, we ended the week with a fun-filled day of activities at Field Day! The camaraderie between students was wonderful to see. I loved seeing smiling faces where all students were included. Everyone showed up and represented their color well! We loved seeing many families come out to cheer their children on!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Ms. Stokes

No Place for Hate Author Visit
On May 6th, 2024, author, disability advocate, and entrepreneur Jimmy Curran visited our school to speak to students! Mr. Curran recently published Will the One-Winged Eagle, a children’s book with an inspiring message of acceptance and overcoming adversity. Ivy Glaser, a 4th-grade student, gave Mr. Curran a special welcome and introduction! Before the visit, students participated in our No Place for Hate lesson and identified ways to make Copper Beech more inclusive. Their ideas are featured on our bulletin board.
