Mustang Minutes
Sharing our Nashua + Mustang PRIDE
December 13 2024
Good afternoon McCarthy Mustangs!
A huge thank you to all the parents who supported and attended the Entrepreneur Fair! It was an incredible success, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Many of our students sold out of their products, and the bake sale table was completely depleted! While the event was a bit chaotic at times, it was truly a celebration of our students’ hard work and creativity. The students were so proud of their items, and it was heartwarming to see so many parents in attendance, showing their support. We’d also like to give a big shout-out to Teresa and Ericka for all their behind-the-scenes work. Their help was invaluable! We are so grateful to be part of such a supportive and spirited community.
Our Winter Concert, held earlier this week, was a resounding success! This was the first concert for Mr. Caporale, Mr. Cardin, and Mr. Nguyen in the new building. The 6th grade chorus, 6th grade band, jazz band, and the 7/8 chorus and band all took the stage to share their musical talents, performing a wonderful selection of holiday music. The students’ hard work and dedication were evident in every note, and they did an incredible job showcasing their skills. The audience was truly amazing — their support and enthusiasm made the evening even more special. It was a fantastic celebration of the season, and we are so proud of all our students for their outstanding performances. Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make the event such a memorable one!
The 6th grade chorus recently went on a field trip to Nashua North to watch a performance of The Secret Garden on Thursday, December 12th. This year, Nashua North students performed The Secret Garden, based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s 1911 classic novel. The musical is a compelling and enchanting tale of forgiveness and renewal, and our students were able to enjoy highlights from the show!
On Friday, December 13th, the 7th grade class enjoyed a trip to the Palace Theatre to see a performance of A Christmas Carol. The students were excited to experience this timeless holiday classic brought to life on stage. They left school in the morning and had a wonderful time enjoying the show, which beautifully captured the spirit of the season. It was a fantastic cultural experience that also tied into their classroom learning. The field trip was a great way for students to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit while supporting the arts in our community.
Fundraiser: STEAM Club
This year, Mr. Morris launched a S.T.E.A.M. club, and the turnout has been fantastic, with over 30 students attending each week! The kids have been diving into robotics kits, exploring basic coding, and, of course, experimenting with 3D printing. The 3D printers have been a huge hit, but as many of you know, they come with significant costs. To help cover these expenses, the club organized a small holiday fundraiser. A group of talented students has designed beautiful holiday ornaments to sell to the MMS Community.
Your support would be greatly appreciated! You can email at morrisc@nashua.edu to coordinate! And, he'll be selling ornaments at the next basketball homegame!
Student Events and Updates
Please confirm with your child that they are staying after school with a staff member. The main office closes by 4pm, and children need a late pass to get on the bus from a staff member. We do not allow children to stay after and ride the late bus if they do not have a reason to be at MMS after the last bell!
In collaboration with the Giving Tree initiative, Ms. Lafontaine and Club Phenomenon will be collecting stocking stuffers for children and teens in need. The stockings will be stuffed on Friday, December 20th, after school. Club members will be contributing a few items for each stocking, but additional donations from the school community are greatly appreciated. You can help by donating the following:
- Small toys
- Candy
- Hygiene products
- Gift cards
- Other small stocking-sized items for children and teens (ages 18 months to 16 years old). We especially need donations for older children, as they are often in shorter supply.
Collection boxes will be available in each team wing, with an additional box in the Staff mailroom. The boxes will be placed in the common spaces starting today, and donations will be accepted until December 20th. We encourage everyone to contribute to this holiday giving effort!
