🥶🧊❄️ Indoor Recess Guidelines ❄️🧊🥶
It has been very cold some mornings this week, which has led to some indoor recess days for the 8:30-8:40 recess time. When this happens, children can enter the front of the school, or the side door by the 5th grade wing (on Bartosh). We also try to have 5th grade patrols at some of the other doors to let students in if they approach a different door.
As our "Outdoor Recess Weather Procedures" document outlines, recess is held indoors if the "feels like" temperature is -10 or below. We use weather.com as our consistent source to check the temperature. We usually decide by 8am if the students will be outside or not, since Kids Club tends to go out a little earlier. Then we continue checking throughout the day, prior to each recess block.
If you have questions about this, please reach out!
We are looking forward to seeing all of you for spring conferences!
Due to time constraints, we ask that separated families schedule a conference together whenever possible. This also ensures both parties hear the exact same information about their child. If you have questions or run into issues signing up, please contact Natalie Benusa.
Use the link below to sign up for a 15 minute conference with your child’s teacher.
If you are interested in meeting with one of our specialist teachers, you can reach out by email.

💰 Pennies for Pages 💰
Pennies for Pages will be happening January 24 - February 3rd!
Students should be tracking their pages/minutes read during the week of January 24th and collecting donations and pledges! Fundraising envelopes will be sent home next week. Students should fill out their reading trackers on the front of their envelope and return with cash/check/coin donations secured inside.
Donations and/or pledges can also be made virtually through Paypal using the QR code on the envelope or at bit.ly/rockybranchdonation. The class with the most returned envelopes by February 3rd will receive a special prize! For questions or more information, email rockybranchRFpto@gmail.com.
Cold & Flu Season 🤒
Many students and parents are frequently concerned about when students should stay home or attend school. The following information is intended to help with this decision:
If a student has had a fever of 100.4 degrees or more, the student must stay home for a minimum of 24 hours after temperature returns to normal without fever reducing medication.
If a student has vomited or had diarrhea, the student must stay home until a minimum of 24 hours after the last episode.
If a student has had a rash that may be disease-related or the cause is unknown, check with a family practitioner before sending the student to school. The Health Service Office may request a doctor’s note from parents.
Wishing you a happy and healthy winter season!
