Message from the Principal
Sergeant Phillip Baham DHS TOTY
It is my honor to introduce the Teacher of the Year for Dublin High School, Sgt. Philip Baham. Sergeant Baham is the senior instructor for the AFJROTC Program at the Dublin High School. Over the past 4 years since joining Dublin High School, Sgt. Baham has had a tremendous influence on the AFJROTC Program and students school wide regardless of whether they are cadets in the AFJROTC program or not. He is loved by the entire student body and admired by his colleagues for the energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism that he brings to the job everyday.
Sgt. Baham is best described as a natural born educator with a military background. I'm proud of him for his dedication to his work, the mission and vision of Dublin City Schools, for going beyond the call of duty, and the energy he puts into the development of his cadets everyday. He has become a role model for all Dubin High School students and staff.
I can speak proudly of Sgt. Baham accomplishments as an educator, his military resume, and his professional soccer career, but to understand the true essence of what Sgt. Baham means to our school through the lens of a Cadet, I have with me today, Cadet Dwayne Bouyer who will share on behalf of all cadets in his own words, what Sgt. Baham means to him, the AFJROTC Program, and Dublin High School.
Good afternoon I am Cadet Dwane Boyer Class of 2026. I have been in JROTC for 3 years and have the honor today of speaking about my favorite teacher Sgt Baham. Sgt Baham always says education is not just about textbooks and exams; it's also about shaping your student's character, building values, and impacting a student’s life. Sgt Baham plays a huge role in this aspect of my life and all of the students here at Dublin High School. So I talked with the JROTC class, and we put together a list. A list of the top ten things Sgt Baham has taught us:
Number
10) If you want to change the world…. start by making your bed and if you have a terrible day, at least you come home to a bed that is made, one that YOU have made and it will give you a sense of accomplishment and a hope for a better tomorrow.
Number
9) It's not if life knocks you down but when it knocks you down, do you have the hunger inside you to dust yourself off, and get up? And if you want to make sure you can get up…stay spiritually, physically, and mentally prepared!!!
Number
8) Screen time check! At random times Sgt Baham will make us pull our phones out and check our screen time. He then will tell us that if we have 4 hrs. to spend on Tik Chat, insta face, face to gram, and snap Tok (he never gets the names right), then you had time to do something to improve yourself! Always work twice as hard as you play!
Number
7) Every action in life does not require a reaction and the only math he remembers from school is 7 to 1. You will fail 7 times before you succeed 1 time. The mindset of successful people is that the 1 time they succeed is worth the 7 fails. Where is your mindset?
Number
6) Successful people read a minimum of 25 min a day! What are you reading and tell me about it!
Number
5) My job is not to be your friend…. I get paid by Dublin High School to make sure you have the tools to be successful during and after high school! I do NOT want to see you shaking salt on my fries at McDonald's at 35 years old. I want to see you managing 2 or 3 McDonalds.
4) On Monday is the quote of the week assignment. You stand up and say the quote, what it meant to you, and how you apply it in your everyday life. He then assigns you a grade on the effort and preparation that you have put into the assignment. Like clockwork, someone always says Sgt. Baham why did you give me that grade? To which he always replies I didn’t give you that grade, that’s what you earned!
3) 2+2 does Not equal Taylor Swift and I was born at night but it wasn’t last night! So think twice before you come into my office and tell me a lie. It's Ok to make mistakes but don’t make the same one twice because it means you didn’t learn anything the first time!
2) We are one Team, one Dream, and one Family! If you have a problem, he has a problem and if he has a problem…then you dang sure have one!
And the number 1 thing we learned in Sgt Baham class is:
1) I love you…. If you ever find yourself at DHS at 7:15 come to Sgt Baham’s office. 50-60 kids come to his office to tell him good morning and give him a fist bump or a hug. He stops whatever he is doing to give them a hug, fist bump, say good morning to them and then tells them to have a great day, be smart and I love you.

JROTC Cadet of the Quarter
We are proud to announce our Irish JROTC Cadet of the Quarter, Jordan Bostic! Cadet Bostic, a dedicated 11th grader at Dublin High School, is a valued member of our GA-20067 JROTC program and The Captain of DHS JROTC first JLAB team. In addition to his JROTC involvement, he is also a member of the Beta Club and a committed musician in the Dublin High School Marching Band, where he plays the trumpet.
"Cadet Bostic is a go to cadet. We can go to him for any event or situation and he is always willing to help the team!" Corps Commander Marion Violet said about Cadet Bostic.
Outside of his academic and extracurricular commitments, Cadet Bostic enjoys playing video games, writing, and further developing his skills and leadership in JROTC. He is driven by his ambition to attend college and ultimately serve in the U.S. Air Force. We are excited to see all that Cadet Bostic will accomplish in the future and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition!
Criminal Justice Mock Trial
Our Dublin City Schools College and Career Academy Criminal Justice Essentials students took their classroom knowledge to a whole new level! They brought the courtroom to life with a mock trial of The State of Georgia vs. Swiper, featuring none other than the sneaky, childhood icon from Dora the Explorer.
In this immersive experience at the Laurens County Courthouse, our student jurors and courtroom teams heard testimonies from Dora, Map, Diego, and even Swiper himself, who was on trial for allegedly swiping Map. After carefully considering all evidence and arguments from the prosecution and defense teams, the jurors reached a verdict: Swiper is NOT guilty…this time!
Heros Honor Run - JROTC
Dublin High School's JROTC is holding its first-ever Veteran's Day Heroes Honor Run on Monday, November 11th from 8:00 AM - NOON to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. The event will be held at the DHS track.
The cadets will be divided up into teams of 4 or 5 cadets. The team of cadets will raise funds through a per lap sponsorship. There is a 25 lap maximum so if a cadet has a sponsorship of .10 cents per lap the team will raise $2.50.
We are excited about this opportunity and believe it will be a great benefit to DHS and the community. If you are interested in sponsoring a cadet or would like more information, please email Lt. Col. Bailey at greg.bailey@dcsirish.com.
